Hands-down a solid emulator that's well-built and a great introduction into "retro" gaming in a classic "pocket" design. Screen is excellent, controllers spot-on. Only note on the hardware is that prefers to be charged on a low voltage charger (i.e.: the kind that comes with a cheap smartphone or vape pen). Zero issues after a couple of weeks of long use. Highly recommended. The caveat that applies to all retro gaming consoles: just as they have the ability to be customized in a million ways, they also have the ability to be broken in a million ways. Start slow, read and learn before "jumping into the deep end". With that said the RG35XX Plus can be modified in a million ways. Learning is the key to making any retro console to work, and work well.

This RG35XX Plus Retro Handheld Console is absolutely awesome, especially for long airplane trips! I’ve bought a lot of gaming devices over the years, but this one has quickly become one of my favorites.⭐ Why It’s So Great:✅ Perfect for Retro Gaming: The preinstalled 5,500 classic games mean I can dive right in without any setup hassle. Everything runs smoothly, and the nostalgia factor is off the charts!✅ Great for Travel: The compact size, solid battery life, and lightweight build make this perfect for flights. I took it on a long trip recently, and it made the time fly by.✅ Excellent Screen Quality: The 3.5-inch IPS display is bright and sharp, making retro games look fantastic. No washed-out colors like some other budget handhelds.✅ Comfortable to Hold & Play: The buttons feel great, and the D-pad is responsive—it really does justice to classic platformers and fighting games.✅ Runs Games Smoothly: I’ve played GBA, SNES, PS1, and even some N64 games, and they run flawlessly. No lag or frame drops on the ones I’ve tested so far.✅ Good Battery Life: The 3300mAh battery easily lasts several hours, so I never worry about running out of juice mid-game.⚠️ Small Considerations:❌ Might Need Some Tweaks for Customization: While it works great out of the box, those who like to tinker with emulators and settings might want to adjust a few things for optimal performance.Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)If you love retro gaming and want a fun, portable system to take on the go, this is a must-buy. It’s super fun, easy to use, and perfect for long trips. Definitely one of my favorite recent purchases!

Fantastic little handheld. I use a hdmi cable to hook it up to my monitor when I’m not playing in handheld mode. You can order an already loaded SD card from Etsy if you don’t feel like reading the guides to load a new OS and games yourself. On issue is the battery isn’t great. On standby mode it'll die in a day. Still, for the price you can’t really beat it.

I was looking for an alternate to my Switch that would allow me to run games that aren't available for the Switch. I grew up in the golden age of video games, so I was mainly looking for MAME emulation on the road. This handheld can run just about all of the emulators out there. I modified this device by installing MuOS, which allows for the same emulators but with a nicer front end. The RG35xx itself has a vivid, bright screen, nice sharp controls, and the battery life is awesome. There are two SD slots, so you can put the OS on one and your roms on the other. For the price, this is a really good deal if you like playing games.

The thing didnt even turn on- and if it did turn on it was stuck on the Anbernic screen for 30 mins. I tried fixing the SD- nothing. Reset with whatever I could find on Reddit on how to reset it. Didnt work. I bought it for my bf to help with his flying anxiety-- its actual garbage. DO NOT BUY IT.

Anbernic makes some of the best retro handheld gaming devices on the market, and the RG35XX is no exception. This console really captures that classic gaming vibe, reminding me of the old purple Gameboys I spent hours playing on. The button layout is similar, which adds to the nostalgia, and the device itself feels solid and it's well-built. It comes preloaded with plenty of storage and has enough battery life for extended play sessions. Plus, it’s one of the smaller Anbernic models, so it’s easy to slip into a pocket and take on the go. A fantastic addition to any retro gaming collection!

So, this thing booted up exactly once after I charged it. I played around with it for a few minutes and then shut it off. When went to turn it back on, it wouldn't get past the BIOS screen with the company's name. I tried checking their garbage-level Micro SD card, and even cloned the contents to a real card; neither of those worked. The reset button does nothing. If you want to play retro games, you are far better off with a real tablet or phone or whatnot, running an emulator like MAME. Even better is a fanless PC running it.
