Product Description

The Ethanol Testing Kit by REV X is an economical and easy-to-use tool to verify the percentage of Ethanol Alcohol in gasoline. Over 95% of the Gasoline sold to the general public contains up to 20% of Ethanol Alcohol. Therefore, the only way to truly protect your investment is to know if ethanol alcohol is present in the gasoline you are purchasing and, if so, at what percentage. The REV X Super Tester provides the average person with an economic tool to measure and test fuel for proper ethanol levels.

REV X ST0501 Super Tester - Ethanol Testing Kit

Ethanol is Corrosive

Ethanol, like all alcohol, is very corrosive and hygroscopic (attracts and absorbs water from the air and its surrounding). High amounts of this highly corrosive mixture of water and ethanol will corrode all fuel system components not designed for it. Besides the corrosive nature, the increase in water will begin to rust out the top of gas tanks, including in warm-weather climates that generally do not have rust issues.

REV X ST0501 Super Tester - Ethanol Testing Kit

Ethanol Can Damage Fuel Systems

Ethanol's ability to attract and absorb liquids prevents the natural lubricants in gasoline from doing their job, causing all non-alcohol resistant parts like rubber and plastic to dry out, crack and eventually fail. High oxygen levels in ethanol-blended fuels cause fuel to decay much faster, and if left to sit, that decay leaves deposits such as varnish and sludge. The sediments left by the decaying ethanol-blended fuel will clog fuel filters, fuel injectors, carburetors, and fuel lines. Making your engine hard to start, idle rough, stall, and in extreme circumstances, engine failure.

REV X ST0501 Super Tester - Ethanol Testing Kit

Ethanol Decreases Fuel Mileage

High oxygen levels in ethanol cause fuel to burn much faster than fuel without ethanol. This means more fuel is needed to produce the same amount of power. However, ethanol-blended fuels will generate more horsepower. However, they do so at a cost. That cost is seen at the pump with lower miles per gallon.

REV X ST0501 Super Tester - Ethanol Testing Kit

Ethanol Decreases Fuel Life

Ethanol increases the octane level in your fuel. Because of this, the base gasoline used to mix E10, E15, or E20 starts at a lower octane level. The ethanol then increases the octane level. As a result, ethanol-blended fuels will begin to decay in as little as two months due to ethanol evaporating faster than gasoline, leaving behind the much lower octane base stock.

This is a severe problem for boats, lawnmowers, and other power equipment that do not get used as frequently as your car. In addition, most small engines today are not built or designed for ethanol and have much smaller fuel system components. These smaller components are much more susceptible to ethanol damage at a much faster rate.

This is super simple. It works as intended. It’s built ok. The quality is ok but it’s simple. Who cares.

I bought this so I could test the ethanol free gas that I want to use in my small engines. It works good. Now I can trust my gas station for ethanol, free gas. It cost a dollar more than regular gas so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being cheated and yes, the price is a little expensive for a plastic bottle, but the piece of mind is worth it.

Seems expensive for what it is..I’m quite sure you could make one of these yourself but it would be necessary to have a good quality bottle and a way to calculate the ratio and get it marked on the bottle:Short version is this works well , fast and accurate. I’m amazed at the difference in premium gasoline and regular!!

Works exactly as described. It's fast and easy to use and the results are simple to see.Turns out my local Sheetz is around E75!The bottle is pretty small and it tips easy, so be slow when you're adding the fuel.

It's simple and works well. I have no other way to judge/test the accuracy but it seems it's accurate.I had 87 octane "with up to 10% ethanol," and it tested within that tolerance. In another project/test I removed the ethanol (and water from humidity) from some stabilized fuel that was sitting for 2 years in a generator (and wouldn't run) in an attempt to make it usable and ethanol-free and this time it tested to zero ethanol as it should so I put it back in the generator as well as my lawnmower (I had a lot of old fuel I bought and stabilized for that generator) and it's been running great. It's so incredibly simple I feel it can't cost more than $1.00 to make. That said, I feel the price could be a lot lower. It's a small bottle with a cap and a label, nothing more.Good luck!

I saw this used on the Chickanic YouTube channel and purchased it. It is simple to use, just add water to the indicated level and fill the remainder with the gas being tested, shake vigorously, and let set for several minutes. If the water is above the level it was originally filled to, there was ethanol in in the gas and the new level shows the percentage. This happens because that the ethanol in the gas joins with the water and increases the apparent water level. If you purchase 'ethanol free' gas from a pump that does not have a dedicated hose for that gas, you get whatever was in the hose and pump (up to 1/3 gallon) of non ethanol free gas delivered to your fuel container before the ethanol free gas is delivered.

Thanks to Amazon I got my money back otherwise it would have been £25 down the drain. Some Einstein at their warehouse decided to put an adhesive product sticker right over the read off label which itself is a VERY poorly adhered sticker onto what is a VERY poor quality plastic bottle. Seriously You are better off just getting a 100ml glass measuring cylinder, the type used in school chemistry labs, and using one of those. I reported this to the seller and whilst they apologised there was no offer of a replacement or refund so once again thanks Amazon.
