Got this and set it up on my large screen that I use for my computer monitor. It was a really easy set up, even though the instructions were minimal and my tech skills minor with newer gadgets. The connections are very simple, and filling the wireless controllers with batteries a breeze. They worked well with my rechargeable batteries. My first impression was that there were a huge amount of games, but nothing that I really recognized. After figuring out the various search methods I could find things like Mario's and Zelda's that I and the kids used to play on our NES and SNES, and attempted to play some of them. Without being able to access any instructions it seemed many times quite hard to figure out which button did what, and sometimes one "ran around in circles" trying to just get the stupid thing playing. Seems many times that the buttons don't seem to function like they used to do on the original controllers, which made playing even games I knew well quite difficult.Once I decided to look through the game "listings" for more games I knew, perhaps one that would function more like the original in my opinion I decided that in reality the game list of 20K plus games is really fairly inane because so many of them are just the same game in slightly different releases for various regions, countries or languages. And to make matters more difficult, MANY games have different names than they had originally; even to the point of many being quite hard to find/search for because of what they are listed as in the game list, though when you run them they seem to have the original game. And sometimes that game listing shows the game title screen, and sometimes it's blank so it's even more of a guess. Odd! Wonder if it's some slight issue with copywrite or such, but if so why is the game there in the first place? I did find most every older Mario game and Zelda games, many of which came out much later than the kids and my timeframes of playing such on our machines, and it was fun to play a few that I could actually manage to get to work with my meager NES/SNES skills (my kids were the experts, dad was just an added speed bump in the gaming sessions but we all had fun with them). In my opinion I believe there have got to be better system choices than this one out there. The controllers seemed quite hard to control in many situations/games and I couldn't figure out how to "map" the gaming buttons at all to make them work like I remember that they did. Several of the games that I did play/try did list control buttons in some of the start screens, but most times varied from what REALLY worked on the controller. I did have some fun seeing/playing some old games that I'd not seen or played for years (our NES/SNES/Sega game boxes are packed away somewhere, so if needed we Could actually hook them up) but more was frustration and wonder at how they didn't seem to play as remembered. And having to guess sometimes just what the game name listed really was would be added extra difficulty to a gaming session already slightly iffy. The thing did kinda run as advertised, and does have a HUGE variety of game names (though tons are really multiples of each one in a slightly different edition), but for my money I'd think of looking around and perhaps go for a more improved type of system emulator. Hence to me a mixed "bag". But it's cheap if one just wishes to explore the field and did function with listed difficulties.
