The original remote decided to work only occasionally even after new batteries were installed. It never worked perfectly. This one does. Slap in 2 AAA batteries and it works like the original should have. It has a good feel to it as well. If I'd known about this remote when I bought the heater/ electronic fireplace, I would have bought it right away and tossed the old remote.

Needed a new remote due to my doodle destroying original remote that came with fireplace. This remote works 100% better than original.
