Magnet wire is copper wire with a thin layer of insulation, and is used in a variety of applications including transformers, wound coils, motors, solenoids, and instruments. Raw copper is drawn to meet specific size requirements based on the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA MW-80-C standard for operating temperature (155°C/311°F) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified Polyurethane with a polyamide overcoat, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.

The enamel insulation is tough as nails, it’s the best winding wire I’ve ever used and practically had to be careless to get a a kink in it. Not just on time but my shipments have arrived early each time I’ve ordered it. I’m going to stick with Remington

I needed to make an electromagnet for a high school physics class and this worked perfectly. We round it around a thick metal bolt with a nut at the very end. They we wound the wire around using the whole thing. It doesn't matter if you wind it back and forth or if the end on are the same side. The wire was durable and worked perfect for the project.

The insulation is not "enamel", it's some sort of plastic. That means it's easily compromised by an errant soldering iron, or a wayward tool. Your soldering iron can easily burn this insulation right off. This wire therefore needs to be handled more carefully than truly "enameled wire". Other than that, it's good wire. Just know that you need to be careful with it during handling and assembly.

Used this to make a microphone in physics class. Professional quality.I have plenty left over for tinkering.

Was perfect. I was making a small slayer Tesla coil and it was important to have one continuous run of 370 feet of wire (unkinked). So often the wire is wound haphazardly on the spool, but not this. Good buy.

We purchased this magnetic wire for our grandson, who made an electromagnet for his 4th grade science project. The wire is just the right thickness for this project, and the red coating was easy to scrape off the ends with a teflon scrubby pad from our kitchen sink. He wrapped a 10" nail with wire 4 times, and then did another 10" nail wrapped 8 times, and we have a lot of wire left over. High quality wire and it's hard to find magnetic wire. Thanks, Amazon!

This product is exactly as expected. I used it in my science classroom to build electromagnets- combining batteries, magnet wire, and a large magnet. My kids were able to build several fun things, including a ballerina shape from the wire that spins on the battery. Good purchase for the price, and loved getting free shipping with prime.
