This thread is definitely reflective - exactly what I wanted. However it is impossible to use on an embroidery machine. It will do 20 stitches max before breaking, unthreading, or shredding. Tried all the YouTube/Facebook group suggestions (changing density, slowing the machine down etc) with no success. 20 minutes into what should be a 6 minute project it didn’t even make it through the first letter. Don’t waste your money. Use a silver or white. Or appliqué a reflective vinyl.

I was very surprised just how reflective this thread is! I thought it might be fun to sew some reflective details to the back of some of my running shirts to help provide more visibility on evening runs. I started with just an old cotton t-shirt to test out the thread. I used a 90/14 needle that is specifically designed for embroidery. I would definitely suggest these instead of a standard "universal" needle. I also kept slowing my machine down. This thread is VERY finicky and you really have to slow down. I had my speed slider set almost as far to the slow side as possible. I did have some breakage but I was able to pick back up and I don't really notice the stops and starts given the density of this pattern. I think this is a trade-off with the reflective thread, so be aware of it up front and try to plan designs that will hide breakage as much as possible. I'm just using this to add some reflective detail to running shirts, so a missed stitch here or there is no big deal to me. On the plus side, the thread is highly reflective. I included a picture showing how it reflected the flash on a phone. I'm very impressed and will deal with the slow stitching to get this type of result. I should also mention that this shirt had a small hole in the back before I started (was hoping to cover over it) so if you see white in the finished product, it's the stabilizer showing through and not an issue with the thread. This is just an old practice shirt. Now that I see how well this reflects light I'm ready to try it on some of my nicer running shirts.

Listen, I think reflective thread is a cool idea. There's so many uses for it, and you can do so many cool designs in reflective thread, especially in the costume department where I am.However in practice... the thread either needs more testing/more work done to make it adaptable for machines, or needs corrected expectations for machine use.For background, I'm an experienced embroidery and seamster, and I could not get it to work on my Pfaff Icon 1. I followed all the instructions, treated it as carefully as I treat metallic thread, and still I ended up with a mess. I switched out my bobbins, my needles, monitored the speed, used a spool net to control thread tension like I do my metallic gold thread, I tried simplistic designs, double up my stabilizer/used different stabilizers, but nothing could get me a proper result.I don't think it can be called 'user error' after trying practically everything within my power to try to make it work, and following the directions indicated in the product listing, the listing photos, and my own experience/knowledge. Because I want to like this thread, I really do, the concept is fascinating. But it just doesn't seem to want to get along with my machine no matter how I try.I feel I would get better money's worth buying actual metallic thread (despite metallic being $26/spool average for half the length), because I don't have to 'baby' that thread as much and I would get more stunning results (and have!).I can't give it zero stars completely, because I am going to try to use this thread in some hand embroidery and outside of machine use, it is a well strung thread, so I'm going middle of the road with 3. Best use is by hand, if someone has a magic way to make it work with a machine, I'm all ears.

This has to be one of the coolest threads I've ever seen. It's reflective making it perfect for sewing on sports clothes, safety clothes, or I imagine some kind of futuristic or cosplay apparel. Easy to sew with I haven't had any issues with it in my machine and the results are really cool. Definitely something I would recommend to others.

I got this to use as part of a plied yarn for my handspun wool. I love having the reflective thread for making hats and headbands that can be worn hiking and running. Because I am not using this in a sewing machine, I don't know how it would thread into a machine, but I can tell that this is a slippery, splitty material. One part of the strand is a shiny gray fiber, like a rayon, and another ply is a reflective thread that "lights up" under directed light. However, the thread is still very flexible and thin. I hold the cone near my spinning wheel, and ply it with a strand of wool, and it makes a thin, but nicely reflective yarn.

This is really neat thread. From across a dark room, a flash of a flashlight really reflects well on this roll. Looks like good thread. The reason why I say I'm new, is this isn't sewing thread, it's much more thin. I thought thread was thread, but obviously not. I have no complaints about this thread.

At least for me this thread would break several times during a project . Followed all the steps. It is reflective . I just couldn’t find a setting that would allow a project to complete without it breaking multiple times
