Very heavy duty, had to buy addition sockets as I did not own one large enough to tighten the nuts and bolts. Great replacement and.

Ordered the Reese pro series 8000 k hitch. Was worried about the negative shipping reviews. Item came a day earlier. Met the UPS driver when he pulled up. The box was broke in half. The driver used his dolly instead of my crappy one. He waited till I checked to make sure all the parts were intact. Took me an hour to put the hitch on, I had a 5/16 bolt that was not formed right and couldn't get the nut on. I ran to big box to get one for $2.50 rather than waiting for Reese to send me one. Worked fine. The Weght Distribution & sway control improved the towing of my 23 foot camper.

Most of you know that Reese is a well-known name in the hitch hardware space. I bought this for a 24-foot, Some concerns raised in other reviews should be addressed. First, the reviews highlighting poor shipping are not reviews of the product. Poor shipping reviews skew the reviews of the product itself. Second, while the construction of this hitch is fine, it doesn't employ all the sway control methods that other more expensive hitches can provide. It provides decent control for a very decent price, but if you need more sway control, you will have to pay more. And third, you can buy more shims to take up any excess space in the hitch head. They give you one, though I didn't need any. Yes, it would be nice if they gave you a couple shims, but shims are about $6, chump change compared to the cost of the hitch, or the cost of the trailer, or even the hassle of returning the hitch for want of a simple $6 shim.OK, all that said, this is an excellent value for a hitch that provides some sway control. It's a step above chain-based weight distribution hitches, and at under $300 (2022) it's a very solid buy. If you know what you're buying, this is a 5-star hitch.

I bought this weight distribution system/hitch to use on my 2013 F150 4X and A MINILITE 2104s. Huge difference in the way my truck feels after having installed this WDS I drive now much mor relaxed and don’t have to constantly compensate for sway and bouncing of the trailer. It is well worth the 380.00 dollars I paid for it.

It pains me to write a negative review about a company that our family has had three generations of satisfaction with their tow products. The Ball Mount assembly mates to the Hitch Bar and two bolts secure it in place. The Ball Mount is U-shaped and slides over the rectangular Hitch Bar. (see pictures) The problem is that the Ball Mount assembly is wider than the Hitch Bar in the rear than it is in the front, so the provided shim leaves a 0.090” gap at the rear (“rear” meaning closest to the ball).I followed instructions and torqued the bolts to 260 ft lbs, but after 30 minutes of driving the bolts came loose.I retorqued them and they came loose again each time even after our fourth 30-minute trip.I retorqued them again, but did not drive, and the next morning the torque on the bolts was down to 90 ft lbs.I suspect that what is happening is that the gap is squeezed thinner, but then the steel of the Ball Mount relaxes because it was not bottomed out to the steel of the Hitch bar.I asked Reese’s help website for advice but received no reply. If you do buy this, use precision calipers to measure the inside width of the Ball Mount and make sure it is parallel and the shim fits snugly everywhere. If not, return it to Amazon because if you try to claim warranty, Reese will make you pay shipping, which is costly for a 50-pound hunk of steel.
