Red Head Stainless Steel Large Diameter Tapcon 3/8 X 3 Inch Anchor is a high performance anchor that cuts its own threads into concrete. The anchor bodies are made of hardened stainless steel. The anchors have a finished hex washer head with anti-rotation serrations to prevent anchor back-out, and the head of the anchor is stamped with a length identification code for easy inspection. The anchors should be installed with carbide tipped hammer drill bits made in accordance to ANSI B212.15-1994. Use standard ANSI bits instead of proprietary bits, which will reduce the chances for anchor failure due to incorrect bit usage, and will cut costs. The Large Diameter anchors install in less than half the time of wedge anchors or adhesive anchors, by simply drilling a pilot hole and drive the LDT anchor by hand or impact. They remove easily, no torching or grinding required to remove anchors. The Red Head anchors have a single piece design, no nut and washer to assemble, and more threads for better thread engagement and higher pullout resistance. The Large Diameter Tapcon anchors have closer edge/spacing distance than mechanical anchors, and higher loads in shallow embedments. These are in fact Stainless Steel and command the higher price based on durability. It's just the lower grade (I think 410 stainless), and this is a grade that is slightly magnetic. I'm not sure about long term salt water exposure but they should should be good everywhere else for outdoor use. They do appear to have some kind of coating. You're probably solving a problem for long after you are gone.

They’re 400 Series stainless steel which is magnetic and slightly lower corrosion resistance then 300 series like 304 and 316. However 400 series stainless is harder and better suited for use as a self tapping concrete anchor if they’re not being used around a salty environment they’ll hold up fine outdoors with the possibility of some surface rust. Certain stainless can also become magnetic from manufacturing just because it’s stainless doesn’t guarantee it’s not magnetic. As far as the rough texture on the outside I can’t tell if that’s a coating or scale from the forging process and they definitely drove in well and bit the concrete.

As I now see that other buyers have noted, the product is incorrectly described as stainless steel. It actually is galvanized. $125 for the box which would be expensive even for stainless steel and obviously is outrageous for galvanized.

The bolts are galvanized not stainless steel. A magnet sticks to the bolt. That is not possible with stainless steel! Not happy with this seller!

Picture is nothing like the product. at the very least from buying online you should get exactly what is pictured. I did receive what I purchased but was not pictured correctly . So therefore I downgrade it to one star.
