WEAK. Fits the Subaru but after a few weeks the pumps have started to go out and barely hold the hatch open before they start to fall. Spend your money else ware and get a better quality one

Super easy to install. It’s not until your old ones just stopped working do you realize how long they have been slowly not working well once you install these. They are strong enough to lift the door on their own on a super heavy Subaru outback hatch when just triggering the latch.

I read the previous comments about installing it the other way ( different from OEM). But it turns out to be wrong for my Gen 4 2013 Subaru Outback. It ended up scratching the base and will not support the lift gate. Re-installed it exactly the same way as OEM and it worked great. Strong support and slow but steady lift. Will see how it lasts.

Installed these in place of OEM Subaru struts with 23 years of use on them. Note the design is different from the Subaru part - there's one fewer ball swivel, and the bulkhead mounting bracket is reversed re: bracket bend orientation/side of the mount. Note the markings are both "L" in the photos - I put the correct part in place, even though it looks reversed - the new won't mount the other way around given the hole spacing to bracket bend location. There were no meaningful instructions in the box but just match the stamped letters between the original and new and you'll be good. The new struts work ok, there's no obvious binding in the motion of the hatch and the hatch no longer seems to weigh a ton when opening and stays up. ;-)

I installed these replacement lift-gate struts on my 2011 Outback. Install was straight forward and easy. However the right one snapped at the base of the hydraulic on the first close. I replaced with OEM and have had no issues since.
