You never know if the part is really as good as stated. These lifts were for the back glass on my 2005 Excursion which is a real heavy door. These new lifts raised it higher and faster than the door has ever raised. A very strong unit and well matched for my Excursion.

This is an easy DIY replacement. Some installation tips:- Tools needed: 13mm open end wrench, 10mm socket wrench- Be sure to make note of the "Left" and "Right" parts!- Be sure to make note of the orientation of the lower bracket. If you install it upside down, the supports won't work.- Use a temporary support to hold the trunk door up during the removal and installation. Some sort of rope/webbing/etc. to the roof rack would work.- It's easier to remove the bottom bracket first.- The product installation sheet isn't correct. It says to pop off the ball and socket side. That doesn't work on this model. Just unscrew the ball and socket part with an open end wrench.- The original bolts for the bottom bracket are slightly longer than those included with the kit. I used the original bolts.

My '14 RX350 hatch was opening normally, but once at the top started to go down again. In the instances it didn't go down, and I pressed the button to close, it went down but in a jerky motion as if the hatch motor didn't have enough power.I decided to switch these struts out first, hoping to prevent having to replace the hatch motor. The hatch now stays open, and goes down smoothly, so my problem seems to have been fixed !As to the item itself, it includes how to remove the existing and install it [just put something under the hatch when opened so it doesn't close on you], the struts fit and do a good job.

You need to replace the two struts on the back of your vehicle.Easy to install (watch a youtube video to help if needed).Just have to take out three easy to get to bolts on each side and put in the new struts.Wow - what a difference- did not realiize how bad they wre getting - like a frog in warm water. These struts are quality made. HIghly recommend them.

It's for surprisingly easy to replace. I was impressed with the fit and function. I would update the instructions to instruct to take the load off the hatch back struts by supporting the hatchback in the most open position possible before removal or install. I used a paddle board paddle to support hatchback.
