Definitely works and is reusable. However, for mice, it’s a bit big and as a result sometimes doesn’t get the mouse square. If the 4 mice I’ve caught in 2 days, 1 was caught by the tail alone and another by the mouse’s legs. In both cases the mouse was caught but not killed. But they do work and when the mouse is dead are easy to empty, rebait, and put back to work!

I would give it more stars if I could. So happy with this product. We live in the country, and we had a rat infestation. This thing just get them, and not only little ones, big rats as well, the ones that are like a rabbit size. It is really easy to use, not like the other mouse traps. Just love it.

Have been using two traps for the past 10 days and already have caught 4 rats in inside and outside locations. Simple to use, just add peanut butter in the food holder and viola - a rat is caught! I am very impressed by the ease and effectiveness of these traps. They do not cost a lot like the traps powered by batteries and they deliver and deliver! Last year I spent more than $50 on a large battery powered trap that caught one rat and then proceeded to never work again. It's now at the dump! You will not go wrong with this purchase! It gets more than 5 stars!

These traps are very efficient and ruthless in trapping rats. I purchased these after California banned the rat bait and I was pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of these traps. They are easy to set-up and are reusable. First you place the bait through the bottom insert, then you engage the trap, and then you place the traps. I trapped 3 rats that were approximately 12 inches long (body and tail). The rats were getting into my vehicles and I placed the three traps in different locations. It took approximately 3-5 days for them to get comfortable with seeing the traps before they went inside and met their fate. I used peanut butter.

I bought a 2 pack of these after trying several other traps and the same night I set them up I caught two rat rats. For several nights in a row I caught at least 1 rat.Easy to use and you don't have to touch anything. Just pop it open and drop the rat into a bag and reset.I still wore gloves when doing this because obviously the rats walked on and touched the traps. But it's better than having to handle the rat itself when removing from the trap.None of us enjoys having to kill them but these can give you the piece of mind that they aren't suffering. They work instantly with no prolonged suffering. No danger to native wildlife. No poisons to have to worry about and no bloody messes. So far the rats seem to have taken the hint and moved on (or I have cleared them all out for now) but if they return during gardening season I will buying another 2 pack.It helps to put them into somewhat hidden spots rather than out in the open as rats are suspicious of anything new or exposed to view.I put one by a woodpile and another behind the garden shed. With 4 of them I will use the other 2 tucked around larger bushes and plants as I notice they travel certain routes to avoid the motion lights!

This rat would come up the stairs at night to enter my second floor , outdoor patio. As you can see the rat, rattus rattus, was almost too big for the trap. Using unsalted shelled pistachios, 1/2 only, as bait, I caught it the first night after trying a "live-catch" and the electronic trap first (they did not work). The tiles in the pic are 8' x 8', so you can see the tail was 9 " long and the rat body about 8". I scattered 3 pistachios outside leading up to the trap and the method worked like a charm. Before I caught him, this rat was eating the stems of my potted plants and digging inside the soil in the pots. He/she destroyed several plants and pooped copiously. But, my primary concern was disease. They carry several infectious diseases. They also pee a lot, so with an UV flashlight, you can sometimes follow their urine trail even across dark and/or irregular surfaces, such as sidewalks and short grass, and, possibly, find the nest. It is very easy to remove the rat without touching it. I used gloves and sprayed the trap (and the dead rat) with disinfectant before and after I removed it from the trap and dropped it into a bag for the compost bin. The rat did drag or jerk the trap about 40" before he succumbed. I found this a little disturbing. I wish the electronic trap had worked, but I think the rat was too large for the trap. A neighbor had the same problem and used a Pest Control company. They used "live-catch" traps but did not pick up the traps promptly, but eventually caught four rats. The process took several weeks, the captured rats were usually in the little box for a day or two before the service picked up the box, and, in the end, alas, the result was the same for the rats. At least my rat had a great last meal of the finest gourmet, unsalted pistachios. I looked, and, perhaps wishfully, I think he had a smile on his face as he slipped into eternity. As a final note, for the record, I have made contributions to the Humane Society.

This trap works, I caught one rat the first night I set it out. However, it didn’t kill the rat immediately, instead, the rat’s head was sticking out where you’re supposed to press down to set the trap. It was a pretty big one so I was not able to release the rat at all and had to throw the whole trap out with the rat. It also took the rat a whole day to die, which was quite traumatizing. I got this trap because I want an outdoor trap that kill immediately, the only options I’ve found so far are this type of trap or the electric one. I thought this would be more cost effective than the electric one but if I have to throw it out after one use, the cost can add up quickly. I still have 3 more in the set so I’ll how the rest go.

Trying to tame the rodents in my garden, i picked up 2 of these. I caught 2 large rats within a week. They are easy to set and forget.Positive - easy to set, small and inconspicuous, relatively safe for kids, reusable, easy to disposeNegative - A little kid could stick their hand in the trap if they really wanted to
