This meter is a great help! It reminds me to water my plants, especially those that don’t tolerate big changes. Easy to use and very reliable—highly recommend for plant lovers!

Although the sensor is rated to -20 degrees C (or -4 degrees F), it gets a lot colder than that around here, so I intend to use this moisture monitoring kit primarily in the late spring, summer, and early fall. But fortunately, we had a spell of warm weather, so I took advantage of the milder temperatures to test it out.First, the setup of the hub and sensor was a bit more difficult than necessary, primarily because of some minor editing issues. For example, in section 3.2 APP Connection, the Hub User’s manual directs you to “… click Switch Mode in the upper right corner to switch to AP connection.” APP connection and AP connection are almost undoubtedly the same thing … or are they? But in any case, the directions were much better than many others I have seen for electronics, some of which seem like they have hardly been translated to English. But with all the options for setup, the QR codes for more help, and a support email address, it’s clear that RainPoint wants you to be successful. And with a few minutes of trial and error, everything was working. After setup, where I kept the hub, sensor, router, and my phone with the app near each other, I moved the hub to the basement and the sensor to one of the trees in my front yard. I never lost the connection while taking readings from several different places inside my home. I can’t verify the exact moisture readings I got, but when moving the sensor from places I knew to be wet to drier locations, the readings changed as expected. I didn’t implement the push or email notifications and probably won’t. I already have enough electronics nagging at me, although others might feel differently. It would be nice if the sensor was USB rechargeable, but the manufacturer’s description says “Battery not included”. To be a bit picky, that seems to imply one battery, when in fact, the sensor requires three AAA cells. But if the battery life is good and the hub and sensor are reliable, I’ll live with that situation. The overall construction seems good, but only time will tell how durable this kit actually is.

Only used for a few days but for the price I haven't used a better one and I've tried quite a few most r garbage. This is decent so are ecowitt sensors. BTW Sensor placement is everything with all moisture sensors cheap and expensive

Love this smart soil meter! The readings are much more accurate and reliable than the one I used before. Finally, I can easily figure out when to water my plants and know the appropriate watering cycles, rather than kill most of my plants due to overwatering. The app is quite user-friendly and I can monitor and track the moisure levels 24/7 when I am away or even setup the auto watering plans based on real-time conditions. The personalized alert system is awesome for someone who always forget to water. Give one to my parents and they love it too, as the LCD display is big and the meter doesn't need to remove from soil after each use. Just make sure you have the hub if you wanna use the app.

The unit seems to measure the soil moisture fine. However, the instructions for setting up the unit and app are "Pair the unit with your hub.". This must be dine before installing the app. Unless you or someone you know can do this, good luck using it.

I habitually overeater my poor innocent plants that are just desperate for some oxygen on their roots. But I always second guess myself. Is it too dry? Is it time?No more guessing with this amazing meter! Dig it into the soil, press the button, and never guess if your plants are thirsty again!Works great, fits in the palm of your hand, and doesn't cost too much!

Last year I purchased their older Bluetooth model which was okay but had shortcomings that this new model overcame. The biggest improvement was this model has a digital readout right on the meter so you can check without your phone. The Wifi also allows for email notifications that tell you when water levels are low which is a gamechanger. My older model had issues with sun causing inaccurate soil temperatures, I have not had an opportunity to check that this year. The biggest criticism is that you need to remove two very small phillips screws to replace the battery. Most people will have to buy a specialized small phillips screwdriver to do this, not cool! The company also should have offered older bluetooth customers a bigger discount to replace their hub for this newer model. I've not been impressed with their customer service.

This is the game changer! Got the sensor with hub from one of my friends as a gift and used for almost a month . Tried many others before, some of them are hard to connect to either my phone or the hub, some not accurate over time. This is the best one so far. The setup is really easy, the connectivity is great and the readings are accurate. As the looks on the surface of the soil doesn’t mean it is moist or dry in the root zone and even water comes out of drainage hole doesn’t necessarily mean the soil is well saturated especially for hydrophobic one. By using this sensor, I can easily check the moisture level by simply looking at the LCD screen or water when I get the low moisture alert on my phone. Really like the feature that the reading on the sensor will be automatically refreshed and I can monitor my plants anytime anywhere. This RainPoint soil meter is a useful tool for both beginners or experienced gardeners.I will definitely recommend it. Thanks RainPoint, Thanks Amazon!!!
