The blue background on the tube really helps to read the amount of rain. I like that I can just stick.it in my ground.

The first thing this rain gauge got to collect was snow and boy did it collect snow! We initially got over 14 inches of snow so needless to say it was more than the rain garage could hold, but once it melted it measured about 2 inches of water. The large numerals are easy to read and the collector tube is held securely in place. Once spring hits I'll be taking this to my garden. In the meantime it's fun to watch it fill with snow and melt to water.

I put this in a large potted plant outside. I used all the poles, making this rain gauge stand about 24 inches from soil to top (about 5 inches below the soil). If I had put it in a smaller pot, or with a shorter plant, I could have left the middle pole out. It was easy to assemble and install. We got rain a couple of days later. The amount of rain was easy to read and seemed accurate. This will be a useful tool, and because you can take it apart, it will be easy to store in winter.

This is a nearly perfect rain gauge. The measurements are big and easy to read. The rain holder seems strong (though I would not leave it out in the winter). The in-ground holder comes together without issue and seems strong enough to hold this where you want it. The only thing that would make it better would be a floater that sits at the top of the water so you can better see the water line from a distance. If you look, you can find such an option with this exact same rain gauge on Amazon.

I like that this gauge is elevated so it set above the plants and the markings are large making it easy to read from a distance. It looks great in the garden because the holder is black metal and mostly fades into the greenery. The only downside is that the welding is not very good. When I removed the holder from the box, I noticed the stabilizing leg was not straight and when I tried to straighten it, the welding immediately started to separate. It didn't break completely so it's still attached but it's now weaken. Otherwise, this is the nicest looking and most practical rain gauge I've found so far.

I've got an electronic rain gauge, and it's real cool and all, but sometimes, it stops working, leaving me without a way to measure the rain.This gauge is nice because you have the option of mounting it to a structure like a fence or a deck in addition to screwing it down onto a metal spike that can be moved just about anywhere... the lawn, flowerbed...whatever suits your fancy. I've got mine staked in a large flower pot.The blue strip makes it easy to read because the water bends the light so that from straight on, the water looks almost entirely blue so it makes for a nice contrast.It remains to be seen how well the plastic holds up under the heat and intense UV light, but so far so good!
