This makes digging up shrub roots much easier than chopping away at them with a garden spade. It’s strong enough to act as a lever when you get it under the root and the blade sharp enough to slice through roots. Seems to be a very good design. Happy to recommend.

Love, love, love this shovel! Saved me huge amount of back breaking digging up bushes, weeds that have fibrous roots and invasive baby trees. My yard was neglected and I wanted to clean it back up. Golden rod, black walnut tree with its root that goes deep into the ground, bittersweet vine(horrible) and even some Sumac trees that snuck into the yard. This shovel just cut through everything like butter. Ok so I did have to use an adz and a pry bar in places. But that’s it! Best purchase I’ve made in tools. It’s well made and should last a very long time. I’m also short, less than 5ft tall and the shovel was easy for me to use. The handle is comfortable, easy to grip and gives you versatility of angles.

These spades are awesome....almost makes you lazy due to the sharpness, the saw-teeth sides and the depth of the spade in the soil. Well executed.

Title: Clearing Green Giants With Root Slayer - A Game Changer For Gardening Veterans and Casuals AlikeRating: ★★★★★ (5/5)I am writing this review fueled by profound admiration, respect, and surprise, carried in the sturdy metal hands of the Root Slayer. This was not only my preferred tool for uprooting a particularly stubborn bush in my yard but also a magnificent symbol of design, functionality, and superior quality. The Root Slayer's effectiveness is a notch above standard shovels and speaks volumes about its intelligent and practical design. It's like an empowering extension of your will over green behemoths, making you feel like a gardening superhero. As someone who has toiled with many standard shovels, the sheer efficiency of the Root Slayer has shattered my expectations of what a gardening tool can achieve. One fantastic feature is its patented blade design - built to cut through the toughest of roots. This technology sets the Root Slayer apart from its competitors, ushering in a sense of invincibility in the face of notorious root networks. I was particularly impressed by how smoothly and cleanly the Root Slayer managed to extract a bush that had held command over my garden for far too long. The edges of the blade are toothed to ensure more significant cutting power and allow for an easier, less back-breaking experience. The strength and durability of this tool are unmatched. The material feels robust, yet it retains a weight balance making it comfortable to handle during prolonged use. Ergonomics-wise, this tool truly shines. It is designed to reduce stress on your hands and back, making your gardening tasks less of a chore and more of a enjoyable venture.Usually, uprooting a stubborn shrub is a daunting task, but the Root Slayer turned it into a recreational activity. It's safe to say that it does not merely live up to its name but surpasses it, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of gardening. In conclusion, the Root Slayer is comprehensively better than a standard shovel. Its distinct features and stellar performance make it an asset for every gardener, be it a seasoned professional or a casual enthusiast. The Root Slayer is not just a tool; it's a revolution in the gardening domain, picking a fight with roots, and winning every single round. For anyone looking to uproot the seemingly impossible, look no further than the Root Slayer. This tool is a game-changer.

I have been gardening for over 40 years and I have used most garden tools at one time or another. Occasionally a new innovative garden tool becomes available to gardeners, which is the case with the Radius Garden Root Slayer Shovel. It won the 2017 Green Thumb Award for Most Innovative Garden Tool, and rightfully so. This tool is well designed, very well made and does an excellent job of doing what it was designed to do, "slay roots."Well Designed:The Root Slayer was designed to be several tools in one. It's shape is part Drain Spade, part Digging Shovel, part Spade, and part Saw. The real beauty of the Root Slayer is the saw-toothed edges along the sides of the blade. The saw-toothed edges do indeed slay the roots of weeds, shrubs, trees, etc. These saw teeth are very sharp and saw right through any roots that are present when you are digging. This turns a difficult chore into a much easier task. The handle is circular in shape, which allows one's hands to grasp it from various angles. This will help prevent one's hands and wrists from becoming stressed from constantly being used at the same angle. The tip of the Root Slayer is very sharp, which is nice because every gardener knows that a sharp tipped digging tool works far better than a dull tipped garden tool.Well Constructed:The Root Slayer is very well made. The blade is heavy duty, rather than the flimsy construction of a lot of garden tools. The handle and shafts are also solid and heavy duty. As such, even a professional gardener can expect this tool to last for many years. The saw teeth along the edges are coarse-toothed, as opposed to fine-toothed. This coarse design prevents the teeth from getting clogged up by dirt, roots, etc. The ferrule (the place where the blade attaches to the shaft) is longer than most garden tools, definitely made for longevity. My Experience:When I received the Root Slayer, I put it to a rather thorough "field test". I quickly found out that it did a good job of doing what it was designed to do, "slay roots". I was impressed with how easily this tool sliced through most of the ever present roots of the nearby weeds, trees & shrubs. It sliced through the smaller roots with just one thrust of the tool. I used a sawing motion to slice through some of the larger roots, and the saw-toothed edges of the blade cut through these roots nicely. It also does a good job of digging, just like a spade or shovel.Recommendation:I am very pleased with this tool, and I highly recommend it for anyone who gardens; even a professional gardener will find the Root Slayer to be a nice and handy tool to have in their inventory of garden tools. As I mentioned earlier, "This tool is well designed, very well made and does an excellent job of doing what it was designed to do, 'slay roots'. "Happy Gardening to all!
