Dell servers typically use 10-32 style threading, HP most often use M6 threads. Most telco 2-post relay racks use 12-24 threads. The nut is housed within a 3/8 inch spring metal body (Panel 064 - 105) When each side tab on the body is compressed, the nut can be inserted into the square hole in the rack rail. Most often used for mounting of servers, rack shelves, switches, routers, and other networking, electronic and data equipment. Mfr # G1224-SNP-B10

This is a package of 100 very high quality 12-24 black oxide cage nuts for rack mount installs. There are no screws included, so this is either a set for people who already have #12-24 screws or for folks willing to buy the matching screws from RackGold to stock their datacenter buckets. Check the threading before purchasing as I've seen several different types used... 12-24 is a pretty thick size, so it's a good one to choose if you're starting from scratch and buying your own cage nuts and screws. They snap in and out securely, which is always a bonus when working in tight spaces in a DC.We've all been there, scrounging random screws and cage nuts from the mystery bucket at the datacenter trying to figure out if you need metric or standard and trying to select the ones that won't break off and dump your extremely expensive server on the floor. It's well worthwhile to buy a set of high quality hardware and bring your own, and these are some of the nicest I've seen. They're made of a really sturdy black oxide material, they have a tapered end so they insert smoothly and thread in nicely, and they are packaged well in a zippered bag. What's not to love? I definitely think these are nice enough to warrant a few extra dollars over other options; time is money in a DC and these will make your life significantly easier.
