Used with the compatible valve body https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005E0MEDM/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 and a straight vent, this is a great solution to the problem of controlling heat in a steam heated building. You can use one at any or all radiators. We use it in our bedroom. It would be great in a common room as well. They use them in NYC apartment buildings to prevent tenants from using the windows to control heat. I assume shoppers may not find themselves searching on Amazon for this, but the price isn't bad at all. Really good quality. Highly recommended.

this unit was mounted vertical and only worked about three months.sure wish there was a model designed for a vertical application.
