  • No, it does not include any SSD, you need to purchase and install SSD by yourself.

  • Yes, it includes with two slices of silicone thermal pad for the SSD. One is for single-sided SSD, the other is for double-sided SSD.

  • No, it is a fanless design with an all-aluminum shell, which has higher heat dissipation efficiency, so there is no noise.

  • Actual speed depends on the specifications of your computer and SSD. We've tested it on Mac Mini M4 with 4TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD, its write/read speeds are 3141/3096 MB/s respectively.

It works as described in many YouTube postings. I'm unable to test it speed.I found the side screws to be absurdly small. First thought, I should have opted for one of the other brands. In use, it appears very fast. The case gets warm, but not hot.Last thought, I won't be swapping out the memory, so the absurdly small screws are not a problem.

I still haven't been able to test properly because the first SSD with a heat sync wouldn't fit. Replacement is slightly smaller.Rescuezilla recognises the device and new SSD, but won't clone because not all 1TB drives are equal. In this case, the Samsung Source is a few GB larger than the destination SSD. Haven't figured out how to resolve that yet.Benefit of a doubt i give 4 starts, it's quite sturdy

I use this to connect an Orico O7000 2TB NVMe to my Mac mini 2018 Thunderbolt 3 port. The speed is fairly impressive - 1500 MB/s write and 2400 MB/s read. Not quite as fast as the internal storage of the mini, but fast enough to serve as the every-day boot volume to spare the 6-year-old internal from additional wear and tear. Set up is dead simple and it runs relatively cool to the touch. I highly recommend it.

I got this to expand the storage on my M4 Mac Mini. Installed with a 2TB WD Black SN770 NVME SSD.I'd wanted to go with the OWC enclosure because of it has the ASM2464PD TB4 controller chip and rave reviews. As fate would have it, the OWC was on back order and the Qwiizlab enclosure (also has ASM2464PD) was in stock and had a coupon code making it much cheaper than the OWC.The enclosure is solid-- metal with passive cooling fins (like OWC) and installing the drive is very straightforward. There is a nice travel pouch in the box, but I have no intention of taking it anywhere. There are a handful of YT videos on how to properly move your Mac's home folder to external storage which I followed. This drive and enclosure work flawlessly. Read/Write speeds average over 3,000 MBs which I believe is on par with or faster than the internal storage of the Mac Mini (I got the 512GB model for only $50 more than the base).I haven't pushed the Mac Mini yet, so I can't speak to how warm the enclosure gets, but currently the Mac Mini is running around 89 degrees F and the enclosure which sits next to it is at 104.Frankly, I think you could go with a slightly slower drive (eg. WD Blue) and save a few bucks as the limitations of the enclosure and interface cap the speed-- which applies to all of these TB4 enclosures. Beyond that, I'm really impressed.

I bought 2 of these enclosures, with WD Black SN850X 4tb ssds. It took less than 5 minutes to install the ssd. I ran speed tests and they both fell within my expected speed results (2400 write, 3000 read) on my Mac. One thing to know is that these puppies get REALLY HOT when in use - around 140 degrees F. Even their idle temp is around 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall very happy!

A SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe with this enclosure helps to add more capacity for my iMac (M3, 8GB/256GB). It’s a fantastic deal considering this 1TB storage setup only costs $179 ($89 for SSD, $90 for enclosure) while you will be charged $400 to upgrade from 256GB to 1TB storage on Apple official website.I removed 4 Torx screws to open this chassis and then installed NVMe SSD drive. Another key point in my choice of this product was its fan-less design with aluminum build. I don't have to bear uncomfortable fan noise anymore while the temperatures of the drive and the case maintain at appropriate levels.I also conducted some speed tests on large file transfers and this case wielded excellent results without any issues. I achieved around 2900 MB/s on large seq. Read and Write on Disk Speed Test.

This is what I need, an aluminum portable enclosure without a fan to pair my 1TB Crucial P3 Plus NVMe. The chassis really weighs a lot compared to other cases, but I can still hold it in my palm.Installing an NVMe into the case requires no complicated instructions, and the drive was read immediately upon plugging it into my Mac. It works fine on my Mac mini M1(8GB/256GB) via Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40 Gb/s). It is even compatible with my PS 5 (installed Black Myth: Wukong on the SSD).Tips: as for Mac users (I’m with Sonoma 14.6.1), when you installed a new drive into this enclosure, normally you may see its name as ASMedia 246X in Disk Utility. You need to initialize or format it before use.

I tested it with Kingston KC3000 SSD, and got to over 3000 MB/s read and write on both PC and Mac. So it works as expected. It comes with a cloth carrying case, 2 screws and 2 sets of thermal pads - thumbs up for that. Heat dissipation is so so. I find it a bit hot, not sure if it will affect the SSD lifespan or something. The only real disadvantage is the short cable, which is also a bit stiff.

I just got a M4 mac mini and didn't want to pay the crazy Apple prices for extra internal storage, so I did some research and ended up choosing this unit. I paired it with a WD Black SN770 of 2TB and it's blazing fast, almost as fast as the computer internal storage, the internal M4 numbers were 3439 write and 2930 read so this unit has got it beat on read speed, but is a little slower on write speed, but still, this is SUPER FAST.It gets warm when left plugged in, just over 40c, I imagine that's normal, as it does not affect performance. I've transferred lots of data to it and it's been a pure joy to work with. It will remain connected to my computer as a full time external storage solution keeping all my personal date off my computer. To a mac user this has many advantages. I got a 512MB Mac mini, so time machine backups will be easily managed, if the computer for some reason needs to be returned for service it will not contain all my personal data. I din't have to pay close to 1000$ to apple to get 2TB storage... These are all big plusses in my mind. With black friday deal on the Nvme I ended up costing me just over 250$I'm very happy with this purchase and the Nvme I chose. Getting a faster Nvme will not make this unit any faster as the bottleneck is the communication port.I'll update review if things take a turn for the worse, but for now I'm a very happy customer.

I purchased this as an add on to my new 14" M4 MacBook Pro. I selected the Samsung 990Pro 2 TB SSD and fitted it without issue. Measured disk speeds (read and write) with Blackmagic Diskspeed Test were slightly above 3GB/s when connected to the TB4 ports on my MacBook. As always when copying files disk speeds were usually around 1.4GB/s. The unit becomes very warm when copying large files.Pros:1. Easy to set up and well made.2. Achieves stated transfer speeds in disk tests.Cons:1. Heavy and quite large.2. Gets very warm in extended operations.A good option for desk top machines like the Apple Mini, but may be too heavy and large for use with a laptop.
