Put them outside to redirect water. We have rainy/flood seasons here that last around 3 months. Did a great job when first placed. Worked for a month maybe, then flattened out. I think the bag got nicked or blew out, so the stuff on the inside floated away. Happened to all 6 I put down.

I have a small enclosed patio. When it rains the patio get flooded, and water come into the enclosure from underneath. I've done everything to seal the leaks. I decided to try sand bags but heard they were to heavy. Read the reviews and thought I'd try this. You have to get them wet so they can expand. They worked great and kept the water from coming in. Hooray!! One thing I didn't like, the expandable stuff inside the bag comes out a little and it very slimy, a jelly like goo. I bought 4 5' bags. I will buy 2 more.

The Quick Dam Flood Barrier does it job well regarding protecting an area it surrounds from flood waters by inflating itself when it comes into contact with water. The barrier is very easy to set up and start using. And it is fairly durable as it can withstand being stepped upon (when deflated)! Please note that stepping or driving over an inflated barrier that filled with water will probably, permanently damage it.The one semi-major flaw that I've found is that it takes a pretty-long while (about a couple days) for an inflated barrier to deflate and get rid of all the water in it. And this is after I hung the deflated barrier outside, exposed to the sun.Overall though, this flood barrier does its job well and is a product I would recommend if you need a way to protect your home or value items from flood waters.

they are great but unfortunately one seems to be faulty...not inflating as it should...but the other three are great!!

This product is a must with our changing rainfall these days and you can use them outside or in. I originally bought one at a local d.i.y store to keep rain water from entering my garage, then I couldn't find them again until I saw them on Amazon. This product works great. Our driveway slopes down towards the house and no more water enters underneath the garage door now. My neighbour's tenants had some flooding with water coming over the track on their the sliding door in the back. I took one of these Quick Dams over and it helped them tremendously. I also let another neighbour know how good they are and she is using it to keep water out of her garage too. Whenever I know a storm is coming, I lay these barriers down beforehand. Just keep in mind that they should be laying flat to dry out so the gel inside does fall all to one end, turn them over regularly, and keep them out of the hot sun when drying. It can take even a few months for them to dry completely depending on how much water they had to absorb. You can use them over and over again. They can also be stacked on top of each other if water levels rise above an inch or so. I wouldn't be without them and it's nice to know that instead of running around trying to find a store that has them, I can buy 4 or more at a time right on Amazon.

Nature has been a jerk and has been sending a particular storm every year, each more violent then the last. I’ve stocked up on indoor dams, and this time I’ll give the outdoor ones a try in some potentially flood-prone spots. I hope I won’t need them, but I look forward to using them at the same time.

My basement used to get water coming in from back door when we had bad rain storms The only other option was to put in an expensive pump that would cost thousands of dollars which I was not able to pay at this time so I decided to try Quick Dam...both the small and 5 ft size. They had good reviews so I gave it a shot. OMG! They work!! I happened to be home and saw the water coming in through my basement door and remembered I had received my delivery of Quick Dam a few weeks earlier. I immediately found that package of Quick Dam and put them up against the base of the door following directions on the package and ....just like that ...water stopped coming in base of my door...it stopped it from leaking. I decided next day when the rain stopped to order the smaller stackable Quick Dams and decided to leave it outside my basement door at the bottom ...so now I have protection outside AND inside protection.SO today ...we just had a crazy sudden horrible storm and my basement was dry!!! Thank you sooo much Quick Dam!!! You saved me thousands of dollars not putting in a pump AND also saved me money from paying someone to clean up possible water damage in my basement. HIGHLY recommend!!!(Read package info - they need to be replaced every 6 months.)

Bought 4 of them over a year ago to put outside and inside front door in case there was a heavy rain. There was no heavy rain until yesterday in Nevada where we got over an inch in a couple of hours. I used them without wetting them first and they worked great, absorbing all of the water. Although it says you can resuse them after drying them out not in the shade I intend to order another four.
