We bought one for each of our kids (4 & 7) and they both love them. They can combine them to make a giant instrument or just make a tiny one. Great fun and not too loud.

We have two teen trumpet players in the family and this toy was the hit of Christmas morning. They quibbled like toddlers over whose turn it was and everyone had great fun laughing at them trying to make music on the Seuss-like assembly of the toy.

This is my 2nd time buying one of these sets, and first time from Amazon as we lost both mouth pieces and other pieces are slowly disappearing but we love it. Somehow, a 3-year old had us become happy, trumpeting elephants and these toys made our trunks. The bigger set has 2 mouth pieces and is like having 2 sets so kids can share or adults can join in. We'd love accessory packs of the mouthpieces, or multiples of any part depending on our project because they can make fun, closed, odd shapes or wild musical instruments. If you're worried that it will be another loud toy it really isn't. We thought it would only be used to make music but kids make all kinds of fun things with the parts. We love this toy and definitely recommend it.

There's not much to this. It comes with a plastic trumpet end and mouthpiece, 3 tubes with holes in them to change the sound, and then a handful of elbows. It puts together 2 things my toddler loves, making noise and building things. The possibilities are near endless. You can use as many or as few pieces as you want; they all go together easily. The sound is exactly like a plastic recorder and the more pieces you add the more it changes slightly. No matter how simple it is though, it's proving to be a ton of fun.

If I were getting this I'd probably take 2 stars off for how annoying it would be, but as a gift for someone else this thing is great. Super simple for even a toddler to assemble and use. Will easily keep them busy for chunks of time every day. The bad part is it makes the worlds 2nd most annoying sound, which toddlers seem to find hilarious. So parents if you are getting this for your own kids, crack open a beverage. However, if you owe your brother/sister/friend a payback oh boy will this fit the bill. As a bonus their kid will love you. All joking aside it really is a cool toy.

I purchased this for my twin toddlers to use as a multi-functional educational toy. Odd, but we really like this toy for everything but making a saxophone out of. I was originally going to purchase an auditory feedback phone for one of my twins who was regressing with their speech and word use. The plastic phones are used to hear your own voice and practice pronunciation, but they cost around $8 for one. I saw this toy and realized I could make multiple colorful versions of something similar and have a building toy/instrument for them to play with for only a few more dollars. I was able to make 3 individual "phones" for them out of this set and they work as I intended. They love hearing their own voice through the tubes and make longer tubes to talk lightly into each others ears or sing into. It's especially effective for them to learn to say hard sounds better. This has helped motivate her to start practicing words again and helps build vocal muscles through the use of the whistle and making noises through the tubes. They build fun little sculptures out of them and I tried getting them to play with it like a saxophone, however as other reviews have stated, it flops around and falls apart because some of the pieces fit too loosely together. Because we love playing with these and are happy that the plastic is durable and made in Italy, I give it 4 stars, but took one away for the loose fitting parts.

This Saxoflute is such a cute & fun toddler toy. I bought it for my 2yo son for Xmas last year, and it has been a great success. He loves putting the pieces together in all kinds of crazy ways. And then he has fun making all kinds of different sounds and music with his "new instrument" that he's created. My preschooler also has enjoyed playing with the Saxoflute. It's like having your own wacky instrument from a Dr Seuss book. The pieces are definitely well-made and sturdy; it has been able to withstand some pretty rough playtime by my little ones. And the packaged box is a good size to store and keep pieces all together. Arrived quickly and just as expected. I would definitely recommend this Saxoflute as a great toy that will promote imaginative and creative play.

I kept this product in mind for my child after gifting an earlier version of this to a niece 8 years ago (or so). My niece loved it then, as does my toddler now.The earlier version lives at grandma's house now (where my clever sibling retires loud toys), so I was able to compare the newer model with the older.Basically, the new model is lighter and the pieces don't fit together tightly (or as well) as the older model. This can lead to some frustration from the little ones, but if they are really into the concept (and really into music), they will make it work.Leading the way (literally) can help. We play marching band, and my little one switches out pieces as needed, to mimic different instruments. Even one or two pieces will do for her. At 2 and half, she is slowly learning which pieces to put together to make a particular sound, and has even figured out which pieces hold together the best. It's true that this is not a perfectly manufactured toy with pieces fitting together with Lego precision, but for the concept and open play possibilities, this toy is a great value for the $, and we would happily purchase this again for our own or as a gift for others.PS Teach your child how to make sounds by singing or making sounds through the tubes, so if the mouthpiece were to mysteriously disappear for a day or two (parents need a break sometimes), it wont be a big deal. :)
