The magnet is located approximately 4 inches above the tip of the rod. This makes it difficult to pick up shells that her face down in the grass. If I can’t move the position of the magnet, I’m going to return it.

PRO: This shell retriever does everything the product description says it does. The magnet is heavy duty & holds spent shells tightly (no trying to pick up the same shell over & over). The handle is easy to hold with the “finger molded” foam padding. Wrist strap prevents losing it in the grass.CON: This is not an “quick draw” item; it takes a minute to pull it out & snap it together. Only way to extend this from 38” to 56” is to “disconnect” the sections = stick is floppy. Wish the storage bag were a bright color instead of black; black bag is easy to lose.As the product description says, this would be a great gift for any bird hunter or trap shooter.I recommend it.

Update ::// seller replaced unit and it works as expected great product stood behind it and sent me replacement . . I purchased this unit really like how it folds for a 2nd pickup stick, this unit new out of the box wouldn’t pick up but 5 shells tops at a time before they would fall off , my other would pick up 3 times as many a lot quicker. Vert disappointed would not recommend.
