Although all acids are dangerous, Nitric, Sulfuric, Hydrochloric, Hydrobromic and Hydrofluoric (not storable in this glass bottle) require special care. You must be able to pour from the bottle that is equipped with a precise lip - so when the liquid goes over-the-falls - a drip does not follow down the side of the bottle. The bottle must also have a nice grip - not to big and not too small. The 500ml is a perfect size for the amount of acid I use routinely. The screw cap also has a good grip and absolutely positive seal that lasts for years. So far, no fear of the seal fading or deteriorating. Additionally, the cap is securely sealed and removed with just slight tightening - comes in handy when you are taking the cap on and off with only one hand available. The only negative is these bottles should be offered with various colored caps - red (sulfuric), yellow (nitric), blue (hydrobromic), green (hydrochloric).

500mL PYREX® Made in Germany No. 1359Arrived contained in 2 boxes, a small box that perfectly fits the bottle, and a larger Amazon shipping box. There was no padding to stop the smaller box from rattling around, but damage doesn’t seem likely.

Very sturdy and thick glass. Held my agar at 15 psi like a champ.

This glass bottle is perfect for pouring agar plates. With 500ml I can pour ~20 plates if I do them all evenly. If I pour some too thick then I won't make it through the entire sleeve. It also has a nice little removable plastic ring which helps break the flow of the pour. Because its removable it helps with cleaning, just don't loose it! I'm planning on buying a couple more so I can pour multiple sleeves at a time. Its a little expensive considering I was using an old whiskey bottle before, but I greatly prefer this.

Very heavy duty! Has a rubber washer on top providing extra seal. The screw on cap makes it a unique and very useful kitchen addition! Likely a great science kit piece, as well, if you have a young one who has interest in mixing and pouring and making concoctions.

I'm using this bottle to store custom soda syrups for my sodastream, in my fridge. I specifically wanted a 500mL bottle. This appears to me to be a very high-quality, lab grade bottle. The glass is thick, and the lid is heavy duty with a good seal. It's overkill what for I use it for. I can't think of anything critical about it, I've been using it for several months.

This is high quality stuff! This is not your father's soda pop bottle. This number is in the heavyweight class. If you require a heavy hitter, don't hesitate to purchase this bad boy. Expensive, but quality laboratory grade glassware is always worth the extra buck

These are superb storage bottles: they are made of genuine borosilicate Pyrex glass (made in Germany)--not the inferior soda-lime glass you now see sold under the "Pyrex" USA name; the tops have a firm silicone or nylon gasket, and are 30mm in diameter to allow for easy and dripless pouring, and also for easy clean-up; the oversized screw-tops seem indestructible; unlike even NSF stainless steel, this glass is INERT and will NOT leach any metals or cause any off-flavors in whatever you put into it; I adore Strauss whipping cream and when stored in the fridge in these Pyrex bottles, the cream stays sweet and delicious. A bit expensive, but definitely worth it.
