About this item

  • 12 GAUGE THICKNESS: This 12 gauge copper speaker wire offers a very easy connection for speakers to amplifiers or receivers. The thickness is just enough for resistance and electrical flow without the risk of overheating
  • CUT AS DESIRED: The wire can be cut as desired for specific installation needs. If the plastic jacket is removed, the wire can be left bare or use wire crimp accessories to connect to stereo and speakers
  • UNDISTORTED SIGNAL: Made with plastic jacket surrounding the speaker wire to help deliver high-quality undistorted signals to and from all of the connected audio equipment. This also helps with insulation
  • POLARITY MARK: There’s a red mark outlined on one side of the cable wire. Its purpose is to easily distinguish the polarity and help properly set up any audio stereo, surround sound system, TV home theater, and even a car
  • 250FT CONVENIENT DISPENSE: This very long 250ft speaker wire is neatly wrapped around a hard plastic spool for easy and convenient dispensing. It can be used without the hassle and instantly too

It's was ok but IV was very surprised when it was unrolled. It was in two parts. I had to splice it together to make it one whole peace. But it did work out. Just was surprised .

Wired up the speakers. A couple of runs were about 40 ft. It works just fine. No surprise. No need for ridiculously expensive, oxygen free, unidirectional, phase balanced, bla, bla, bla, Super Duper cable. Do yourself a favor, Google 2 things... "roger russell Mcintosh" and check out his speaker wire page, then google "speaker wire coat hangers".The wire I received is not two colors like in the pictures. Both are copper colored. One is marked with a red stripe. The cut ends do look like copper clad aluminum, but that's not important. I do not have a microscope to confirm.I measured the conductor at ~ 0.078" diameter, which is little thinner than I'd expect. #12 solid is spec'd at 0.080" dia. and multi-strand is normally a little thicker to make up for the space between strands. This is multi-strand. For comparison sake, #14 solid is 0.064", #13 solid is 0.073, with stranded being a little thicker. Also, I was able to slide a #14 ferrule crimp over the wire with a little effort. I'd say this is closer to #13 than #12. This causes an issue when stripping. I have a good pair of Klein wire strippers with holes for different wire gauges. In the #12 hole it does not get all the insulation off. I think the insulation is unnecessarily thick. You must cut & rotate a few times. In the #14 hole it strips away a few strands of the conductor. I find if I use the #14 hole but do not squeeze as tight, then release a little bit before pulling the insulation off it strips well.

The wires work just fine for me. I hooked them up to a surround setup that is about 7 years old (PIoneer reciever and speakers) (Sony subwoofer). The wires work absolutely fine and there is plenty of length. Whoever said they undid the wire and it was not 250 ft I highly doubt their claims. Maybe they did but oh well thats a sorry claim to down rating this product. I put speakers all around the living room and probably did not use 25% of this spool. If you are doing speaker wire definitely go for 12-Gauge. Great Product I am happy I did not listen to the grumpy reviews.

This product is copper coated alum wire, that said, the guage of wire is close to 12gauge but it's the size of the individual strands that makes this product difficult to use. Crimping ends on might help, but those of us who twist, this product is like twisting doll hair and expecting it to stay together. It does not. I will be soldering the ends to add stiffness to each connection. What a drag. Product is protected by a very nice thick sheath and positive is clearly marked. I'm wishing I'd have spent the extra $$$ on copper and saved myself the frustration.

This is actually the second time this happened to me on Amazon and it is getting tiresome. Nothing wrong with the actual cable; it is copper clad aluminum and not actual copper but I knew that from other reviews, but sadly it was only 16 gauge rather than the 12 as advertised. I live in Canada so I was very frustrated that I had to pay tax and duty then needing to return back in the USA again. Amazon should mandate that once customers express that a product is mislabeled, that the seller must fix their ad.

I just moved and needed to rewire my home theater, i spent hours reading reviews and trying to decided what to purchase, i decided to take the leap and buy this wire and i'm glad i did. i did not measure the wire but sure looks like 12 Gauge to me, wire was in one complete roll no cuts or multiple pieces. I did not measure the wire but i needed about 235 feet and that was all there and still had a lot of wire left over, i would recommend and will purchase again if i need more!

I bought this spool (250-ft. of 12 gauge) to replace the various 14/16/18 gauge wires that I had been using for my Klipsch surround speakers. I had several splices in some of the wires, some had soldered banana plugs, while others did not. With this new wire I've switched over to using rear-cable-entry screw on plugs. I currently only have half connecting (others are in transit) and they are working fine. It's hard to tell if there is an noticeable quality difference in the sound quality with only half the speakers using the new wire, but so far so good, there is no distortion or crackling in the lines. Previously I did notice that some of the speaker connections had to be "jiggled" at the plugs in order to get the sound back, I'm hoping to avoid that with this wire.

So I read all of the reviews on Amazon.com for this roll of speaker wire. I was very concerned on the length of the total amount of wire on the roll and the thinkness of the wire. I was assuming I would have problems, I even went as far as weighing the weight of the roll when it first arrived. I also un-rolled the entire roll before I ran the speaker wires through out the house and then find out is was to short. Well I am so happy to say that this roll of wire was GREAT! The roll was a complete roll, with NO cut pieces of wire. I measured the roll and I did not get 250 feet, I actually got 250 feet and 4 inches. The supplier listened to the complaints/concerns and got it fixed. The wire thickness, I am not sure if the size is 12guage, but I will say that I had to loose a few strans just so it would fit in the stereo input slots. I will be back for sure to buy more, when I or friends need speaker wire.
