First unless you can look at display straight on all you will see is 8888 the location of activation button is on the side and too forward. So it limits your line sight if you have to hold your hand over display to push. Yes it has memory but you can"t tell if you are getting a accurate reading if you cant see display. As far as rpm I was reading 425rpm and I know it was higher and same with top end rpms.

Iv tryed a a couple other cheap ones and this one is by far the best. Better quality and accurate. Very repetable results. I'll update in a year and see how its holding up. So far impressed for the price.

Works Rather Well & Is Quite Accurate. I Much Prefer The 'AA' Battery Factor As Opposed To The 9 Volt. Also Works Great W/Regular White Electrical Tape Which Is Already Reflective. Very Good Precision At A Great Price, Especially If On Sale. Pleased With This Purchase.Enjoy...

Where to start? Power button on the side did not work. Before I sent it back I opened it up (simple 4 screws) the plastic button is such a poor quality injection mold, the back side slips over the micro switch inside and does not turn the unit on. Easy to fix. Tested the meter on three known pieces of equipment with extremely accurate speed control and display. wildly inconsistent reading from 700-5000RPM on a spindle I know was running at 500 rpm. Tried on equipment up to 8,000 RPM, unit is all over the map. Absolute garbage. Cheap plastic case. Garbage.

Used on my Chinese 2.2kw Spindle. I was a little worried that it may not work based on reviews. Worked Great! The VFD stated the spindle was turning at 24,000rpm and the PYLE meter displayed 23,940. Close enough for me.

First digital Tach , using manuals. Works great. Nice carry case. I checked it against my manual ones and a VFD spindle drive , RPM right on.I have some 3M reflective trailer tape and it picks up the signal no-problem. Only had it to 1000 rpm so far on a PTO. Get it.

It comes in a black plastic box with foam pads, battery and two slice reflective strip. It works well, easy to read. It takes couple seconds to get the right reading after pointing the bright red laze dot on the rotating object.

It works but only under optimal conditions. It only works with the reflective tape. I could not get it to work with a dark surface with a white label. The minimum size is about ½ an inch of reflective tape for a good reading. They only provide a few inches of tape. I also found that the background had to be flat black. I had a satin black power coated disk and I could not get a reliable reading. I spray painted the disk flat black and it worked. I also found lighting, sunlight, monitors, smoothness of surface and distance can all affect measurement. Unless conditions are just right the measurements can jump all over the place. The unit is also larger than it looks. It’s difficult to operate with 1 hand. Overall, very disappointed with this product. There’s not too many occasions where I’d want to paint a part flat black just to take a measurement. I also tried the TASI tach which is around the same price. It was much worse. I assume that in this price range, you’re just not going to get anything very useful.
