ProTec humidifier filter is durable and strong. Compared to generic brand this is far superior as no tearing. Does not need changing as often as do other brands which saves money. Would recommend using with distilled water to make filters have longer life.

Bought this as a replacement filter for my Vicks humidifier. The only difference between this one and the original is the metal pieces inside. Otherwise it fits well. It is a perfect match.

Got this as a replacement for the original filter. These filters are weird, but you must use them in this model. Better price than most.

I had tried a couple other filter brands that say they're compatible with the Vicks Starry Night humidifier (model V3700), but they either fell apart quickly or were too short for the unit. You really need the filter to be a snug fit in the unit for it to correctly moisten the air going through it. I thought I was satisfied with the last brand I bought, but I eventually realized its filters weren't quite as long as they needed to be to work effectively.I noticed that this brand is what Vicks recommends on their web site for replacement filters, so I was very pleased to see a reasonably-priced 3-pack, and it turns out that they are the perfect fit for the Starry Night humidifier! Note that you do need to carefully place the filter in the tray inside the unit. It is a bit snug, so don't be alarmed - that is exactly what you want for it to work. One additional tip: many people complain about the filters in this unit not lasting long or developing mildew or foul smells fairly quickly. This two-step process works for me to keep them lastly about a month:1) I take the filter out of the unit each day to air dry and then re-moisten it under running water at night before putting it back in.2) When I start noticing mineral build-up, I let the filter soak in a 50% vinegar/50% water solution to remove it. I then rinse it thoroughly to get the vinegar out before using it again.Following Vicks' recommendations for using vinegar and bleach to clean and sanitize the main unit and water tank help a great deal, too (see the manual for details). Of course, if you still notice mildew even after doing all this, you should immediately replace the filter.Feb. 25, 2024 UPDATE: Here's one more tip I discovered through experimentation to help these filters last longer. If you can determine roughly the exact amount of water you need in the tank to last overnight (in my case of running it at high speed, a little under half the tank will do), you can then keep it on for an extra hour after your kids get up in order to thoroughly dry out the filter. The cool-air humidifier normally works by having a fan blow air through the wet filter, so doing this is like having a little hair dryer focused on the damp filter to dry it out. You still may want to occasionally let it soak in a water/vinegar mix to dissolve any mineral build-up, but I found that this little trick does wonders for keeping mildew away and letting the filter last longer.

Filters fit our vicks model 3500 perfect and can't complain. Definitely buying another dozen for the price. Beats the walmart and Publix prices.. The only flaw is that the generic filter does not have that metal wiring in the top to keep it sturdy.. However, The generic brand does come a little smaller in width. I believe they made them that way to hold still and sturdy. Does a great job and does not grow mold as quicly as you would think. Do not buy the Essick Products. They are hazardous to people..! They claim that they help clean the filters and Humidifier tanks.. That they do but they also have chemicals that are airborne and you breath it while not knowing.. ! Please do not buy these so called humidifier cleaners..! Not good for your health.. I have a review and pictures for this product..! look me up and my reviews if you do not believe me..!

I run my humidifier for about 8 hours a night and it puts out about a quart of water during that time. I use home tap water and replace the filter every 6 to 8 weeks (when I see the discoloration). I had read that using the "ProTec PC-1 Humidifier Tank Cleaning Cartridge" (about $6 each in a 3-pack on Amazon) would help and, after a year, I would definitely say it has.The cartridge (looks like a mini baby rattle) goes into the same water pan holding the filter. I replace the filter and cartridge at the same time because I never had success trying to reuse either. I also clean the humidifier with a wet-wipe and let both the tank and humidifier dry out for a full day to kill off any emerging mold. Since it costs $8 for the filter and $6 for the cartridge, I feel that $14 every 6-8 weeks is a fair deal. I would give it 5 stars if both items were sold together, or at least by the same supplier.
