Expensive. But fell apart during a show. Bristles were not attached properly inside and simply fell out. Not only embarrassing, but required me to play with my hands until I could find another set to complete the concert.

I've used Pro-mark sticks for over 30 years so it's only natural I would give their brushes a try. Thicker, sturdier, and inspiring to lay down a firm country snare rhythm.

I wanted to like these, but they just didn’t work. Retracting the brush will eventually break it, the only thing keeping the bristles in place is plastic.

I bought these brushes for my grandson who is learning to play the drums. His instructor tried them and thought that they were first class !

When I first saw these I immediately thought they were cheap, beginner type brushes. Then when I saw they were promark, it peaked my interest.I've become kind of a brush collector as I try to find the perfect pair. I never considered nylon as it just didn't seem to me to be as good as wire. (note only in my mind I had never played nylon before)I have to say, I'm glad I tried them.I recently also got the Light weight 5b brushes and some of the characteristics are the same. Here's my take.-They aren't retractable they are a throw type, though I just pull them out most of the time-Their balance is very good, Promark claim they weight them like a 2b which I don't play, however, I find the handle which is larger than the 5b lights to be a bit large for my tastes.-The brush does not have a loop at the end. This is a pro and a con, where I like the feel in my hand without the loop and you get more brush length, I do miss the ability to run the loop against the cymbals on the bell.-NYLON "wires" don't get caught in the rim and bend (and later need to be straightened or cut) and don't get bent in my stick bag (vs. the wire if I don't store in the plastic container that it came in)Where I found the sound on the 5b light version to be fuller than that of a light weight wire brush, on these they are lacking the fullness and the volume of a wire heavy weight brush (I used a Jeff Hamilton brush to compare) and do well comparing to a medium wire brush instead.Note, if you do rim rolls, I wouldn't recommend either promark the material on the shaft doesn't stick the same way. However, if you are willing to make an accommodation and have a 14 inch head, you can lay it on the head and roll it well.Overall I absolutely believe these need to be considered and taken seriously. Though I was hoping this would be a nylon alternative to the heavy wire brush, it does good as a medium weight. The feel of the 2b shaft on this one is too much for me, I would prefer that 5b with these nylon wires.

These feel great to play with, balance is great, and overall really like playing with them! Only real issue is they don't stay extended and I have to constantly re-extend them. The picture attached shows how the one stick retraced after just a couple of minutes of playing, not even hard or anything. It was a pretty simple song. It doesn't look like much but after 10 minutes of playing it was half way down which changes the sound of them a good bit.The one stick feels like it has a locking feature where you extend it to a certain point and it "clicks" into place but I don't think it's an actual feature of the stick because 1. it doesn't stay locked, 2. its only on one stick because the other I tried to do it and ended up cracking the stick housing and I wasn't even pulling that hard.It would be nice if that was an actual feature that they would lock in place because it makes them pretty annoying to use which is a shame because they feel and sound great.

The reason I ordered these is because the nylon bristles would have a unique sound different from traditional metal ones. I just wanted to experience them, have them in my arsenal and find the perfect time I need to have them. They do sound unique among brushes. The grip is like a standard stick in form and is weighted accordingly. The brushes push back into the handle for storage and to protect them without the need for a separate cover. The nylon construction of each bristle is quite stiff, stiffer than metal bristles. They also have the advantage of not kinking or sticking into the rim and snagging there.I'm still playing around with these and extending them to differing lengths, etc. I like their feel and will enjoy them for a long time. The quality is evident and I have had more than one person ask about them on noticing their sharp appearance, too.
