Terrific grip

I haven't come across a pickleball overgrip that wasn't just a rebranded Tennis length overgrip. I appreciate how each end is tapered, but when I have 10-12" of excess tape the taper doesn't matter.I wanted to switch up the felt grip I had for a more tacky one. These tacky grips feel and play as well as major tennis brands like Head and Wilson. They come with a nice quality strip of black branded tape to secure the grip at the top. They're a good product but I'd like to see manufacturers producing shorter lengths to reduce the excess wasted grip.

I like this handle wrapping tape. I like it a lot. In fact after wrapping one of my paddles, I liked it so much I wrapped my other 4 paddles with it. It is just the right amount of stickiness for me. Much better than the slippery handle tape that came on all the new paddles I have. This tape is tapered on both ends. The tape is too long for a pickleball paddle handle, probably because this is just re-labeled tennis racket handle tape. If you want to use it all on a pickleball handle, you will need to overlap a lot.I almost criticized this product for lacking sticky tape to secure the overgrip at the top of the handle. Then I realized the black tape that is wrapped around each overgrip is also the tape I thought was lacking. This black tape has "Professor Pickleball" written on it. I thought it was just a band used to package the product and almost threw it away. See my first picture if you need a better understanding of what I just said. This leads me to my only real criticism of this product. No instructions are included. If this is your first time, the side with the plastic that peels off is the side that will touch your hand when the tape is applied. You start at the bottom of the handle, peel off the paper to reveal a short sticky section, and stick that to the bottom of the handle. You then wrap that bottom part completely around the handle without starting to go up the handle yet, securing that first wrap onto itself before starting to wrap up towards the neck. Overlap it about half the width of the tape while stretching it tight. When you get to the top, secure that last wrap with the black tape after peeling the paper off that tape to reveal the very sticky side. You can then also secure it with the rubber neck band if your paddle has one.One more thing: If you are right-handed, you will want to wrap the tape counter-clockwise when looking at the bottom end of the handle. If left-handed, wrap clockwise. Most pickleball handles come with too small a diameter handle. This will increase the diameter slightly, which is usually a good thing unless you have really tiny hands. If this helps you, please mark this review as "Helpful". That way more people will see it so it will help more people.

Even though I received this product at no cost to me, I am reviewing it honestly as though I had paid full price for it.The 12 pack of wraps arrived in a zippered plastic bag with no documentation or instructions for how to apply them. Assembled in China. The lack of instructions is particularly problematic because each wrap has a “fluffy” or textured side and the other side has a removable plastic backing but no adhesive underneath that. So it is not clear which side goes against the existing paddle grip and which side is against the hand. I did eventually find a video from the manufacturer showing how to install the over grip. But it would’ve been nice to have a QR code or some instruction with the product indicating how to find that video. After watching the video, it took me about 10 minutes to install the over grip. The first time, I wound it with too much overlap on each pass and it did not cover enough of the length of the original grip. So, I had to unwind it about halfway and redo the last half.Applying the overgrip to a second paddle took only 3 minutes and came out with much more evenly spaced windings. There’s a noticeable increase in the thickness of the grip for both paddles. The overgrip makes a significant difference in the way I feel when playing. Normally, my forearm and elbow start hurting after 3 to 4 games due to gripping the paddle so hard to prevent it slipping in my hand. But because of the tackiness of the over grip and the fact that it absorbed hand sweat well, I was able to play more than five games pain-free since I was not squeezing the paddle handle as hard as I normally do. I did have to adjust the way I switch my grip from forehand to backhand shots, but that took only a couple of games. I also like that each overgrip is about the size of a car key fob, so I can keep one in my bag for a quick change on the court, if needed.Overall, I’m very happy with these paddle over grips and will continue using them. I will recommend them to friends and family who play pickleball.
