Pleasantly surprised at the nice solid line that it drew on my fabric.

On the positive side, the chalk works just fine. On the reality side, the chalk is so thin that as soon as you pick it up, it breaks which renders it useless. So use it once and throw the pieces away. I will be looking for a thicker piece of chalk that I can use for a year or two without it breaking.

I needed a sewing chalk that actually works and where I don't have to press very hard onto the fabric, so I purchased this product mainly because of the various colors and nifty container they come in. The first one I took out broke in half. Not a big issue. I tried the chalk on a piece of fabric and was truly amazed that I didn't have to apply pressure very much. The past two different types of sewing chalks I've purchased in the past were duds and didn't show on fabric, but this product is perfect on fabric! The only two cons I have are: container is a little tricky to figure out how to open and easily breaks.

Use often and while it does sometimes break, I just use the pieces to continue with tracing and marking the projects. For the price it is well worth the money spent. Just wish they were a bit thicker as to not break so easily. I will purchase again and again.

But hey! It's chalk... works well for me marking - removes and erases easy enough. Maybe a bit thin in the midsection if more tapered a person could keep a beveled edge better and not have it crunch up in your grip as much. But overall good for what it's needed for!

They definitely start off sharp, but I fine the dull fast and also break pretty easily (maybe I hold it too hard but that is just my experience). I like the color difference. It makes it easier to mark fabrics with busier patterns.

I bought this partly because it comes with a little case to keep it neat. The case doesn't stay shut; it comes with a rubber band wrapped around it because without that it just flops open. So I have to track one more little object while sewing. The chalk is soft and thin, which makes it mark really easily and smoothly, but also break easily and make extra chalk dust. I've definitely had higher-quality tailor's chalk before, but this works. Next time I'll get a single piece of something better.

I bought the white version of this chalk to make it easier to see layout marks on some blue marine canvas for my boat cover. I did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Only one of the pieces was broken when I got it but that wasn't really a problem as it broke into 2 usable pieces. The chalk is fairly fragile so it does need to be handled carefully. The advantage of this type of chalk is that it makes thin chalk lines continuously unlike chalkboard chalk that leaves very fat lines. This helps greatly with accuracy while sewing large projects. The marks come off easily so this chalk works best for temporary markings. After using this stuff I am hooked! If you are looking for a layout marking solution especially for darker fabrics I would highly recommend this product!

As some others have reported, these are quite thin chalks, so may not be appropriate for the more heavy handed, but I have found them to be superb. They mark with very little pressure and are exactly what I require in a taylors chalk. I would recommend, with the caveat that the more heavy handed among us should maybe avoid.
