Images lead you to believe it's the same size as a normal magbase it's not

Indicator is off by more than .001. The turn dial is hard to turn. I never even used the product. Brought to work for Calibration and it failed.Suggest you go with a more reputable brand if looking for precision.

For starters this dial gauge is not a Starrett or a Mitutoyo dial gauge, so there is no sense trying to compare it to one. This is a decent, inexpensive, hobbyist class dial gauge that will meet the needs of a hobby machinist. The locking magnetic base is small and I don't know about that 90 pound strength thing, but it is plenty strong enough to hold this small dial gauge firmly in place. The articulating arm is very configurable and easy to use, every thing tightens into position with a single knob. I actually very much liked the small dovetail clamping mechanism on the arm for attaching the dial gauge, it worked very well. The gauge itself is small, as in 1.25" diameter small, but is easy enough to read. Accuracy and repeatability were impressive for the price. I tested it over the range of 0.002" to 0.025" with a variety of precision shim gauges and found it to be accurate to within about 0.001" and very repeatable in terms of return to 'zero' and getting the same reading from the same shim when testing over and over again. What I didn't like was that the dial ring didn't turn smoothly as most dial gauges do and seemed damaged. On closer inspection, and as can be seen in the photo, I could see damage marks on the rear of the dial gauge that appear to affect the ability to rotate the dial. So, I'm returning it in for an exchange in hopes of getting an undamaged one the next time. If that works out I'll update my star rating.
