The magnet is strong, and the arm is rigid when locked, but the quality seems to end there. The pivot for the fine adjustment is so loose it can affect the reading on the indicator. The thumbscrew isn't long enough to fully engage the threads on the clamp and it stripped the first time I tried to tighten it up. I drilled and tapped it to a larger thread, only to find out that the clamp is so badly designed you need to use a wrench to get it right enough to grip the indicator. The indicator itself feels very loose. You can feel the stem wiggle from the lightest touch. I wouldn't recommend this at all. If I hadn't modified it by fixing the broken threads, I would be returning it.

I recently used the indicator to check my vehicle brake rotors and wheel spindles. The magnetic base holds on strong, and the center knob swivel/ tightening feature is great. One knob tightens several pivot points making it easy to position the dial indicator. It also comes in a verywell designed carry case.

I have not had the opportunity to test the accuracy of this gauge but my initial examination of the product has shown that it does work and seems to be accurate. It has a heavy magnetic base to hold it securely to the work area.

As a machinery builder at work, these are helpful tools for measuring runout, backlash, and deflection. We have much bigger, more costly versions of this tool for reaching far and deep. This quick and easy version has limited reach, but gets the job done.Note that the ball & socket joints are friction only, so they're as tight (or loose) as they'll ever get. The ball & socket joints have fairly limited mobility, maybe 30-40 degrees in the direction of the cutout in the joint. The tool can't reach the surface it's sitting on, if that makes a difference. The magnetic base is strong enough to hold the whole tool (as it should be).I wish the clamp for the actual gauge was a bit tighter. Finger tight, the gauge still moves around.I wouldn't use this for aircraft parts or high precision machining. However, this will be handy for a quick spot check of deflection in a press, or runout on a shaft, etc.

I've been looking for a second dial indicator gauge for my desktop milling machine. My current one works fine, but I wanted an additional one just in case I was using my current indicator and had it setup for a specific project on the lathe and wanted to keep it there while I did another thing on the milling machine. The HDLNKAK dial indicator seemed to be a decent dial indicator for my needs at a good price point. The dial indicator comes with a magnetic base which works well. It has the typical on/off knob to allow you to position it on a metal surface and lock it in position. The arm is adjustable and has a nice big knob for locking the arm in position which is a big upgrade for me than my other one. My other one had smaller knobs and it was sometimes tough to get it tight enough to the point where I would feel good that vibration wouldn't upset the positioning. My other dial indicator also had a spring angle adjustment, but this one seems to be a lot more adjustable which I find to be an acceptable tradeoff. Overall, the accuracy seemed to be pretty decent in comparing the two dial indicators which no real noticeable differences. The magnetic base seems to hold very well.I do like that they include a case, but wish it held the indicator parts better. They tend to rattle around inside the case which is less than ideal. For hobbyist machining use or adjusting table saw blade alignment this is a great solution.
