Instructions weren’t easy to follow, but it also says to use an expert to hook it up. All and all it wasn’t that hard to hook up, but I’ve worked with gas before, definitely don’t try it if you’ve never worked with gas. It’s easy to use, but I suggest oiling up the metal pieces that function so it’s easier to use. It can at times get stuck. But after but of oil, it seemed to work fine.

After a couple of seasons of light use (maybe 50 hours total) this thing failed with a severe gas leak where the control shaft goes into the gas valve body. Working with ProCom was another failure. Made a couple of calls, with a hold time of >30 minutes each time. They asked for pictures and said they'd respond in a day or tow. Took them a week or two to respond back and simply agreed with my conclusion that its faulty. They offered no other help (i.e. no parts to offer, no new assembly to buy, no "sorry, but we don't carry the assembly or parts for this"; just, "... its bad"). They were friendly on the phone, but the customer service went no further.Even when it wasn't leaking, the pilot was just okay. Kind of flimsy, pilot flame that was inconsistent and appeared way to big (although it was still sensitive to blowing out if wind down the chimney was strong). Most of the time the "safety" feature worked but there was an occassion or two where the pilot went out and the gas valve did NOT shut.I resorted to using the manual gas valve in the firebox and use a long lighter to ignite. Works better, is safer, and looks better without the clutter of the pilot. Stay away from this product (and company).

Doesn't work really well. The pilot light will not stay lite and it is tricky to reduce or increase the flame.

Works very well. You can cut down the length of the control knob extension to fit your particular gas log set up as needed to give you the proper clearance for proper operation of the valve. No problems other than the instructions need better CLEARIFICATION to make it easier to assemble & install.

I bought this because it was required to convert a procom natural gas/propane fireplace to propane. The ignition switch worked right the first couple of times and I've had to manually light the fireplace since the third day.I also had to cut the metal rod that the know attaches to so it would fit.If you have the procom fireplace and you have to buy this ok. Otherwise, I would stay away from it.
