About this item

  • Whether you are a professional, recreational user, or even casual, primos will fit the mold for all types of people
  • LOUD!
  • Three unique tuning holes for eight different tones and frequencies
  • Easily reproduces distinct pitches of the barred owl-Feets and great horned owl-Feets hoots
  • Durable and easy to carry

The Hoot Flute is easy to use. In the spring, sounding like an owl can very often entice a gobbler to give away his location by gobbling back at you. You can then move closer and, using turkey talk, lure the gobbler into range. The Barred Owl's basic call is an eight-note call having the same rhythm as if you were saying, "who cooks for you, who cooks for you all". The Great Horned Owl's basic call is a six-note call, having the same rhythm as if you were saying, "Who cooks for you, who, who". You will want to try many variations of this basic call in order to entice a gobbler to give away his location by gobbling at your hoot. This works best in the early morning before a gobbler has left the roost, mid-morning and at dusk.

Love this. Talking back & forth with the owls in the woods. Can't wait to use it during spring turkey season.

Has a very adjustable sound. Very much like a barred owl and able to mimic both their singular and more complex calls. They answer me back nearly every night. Will try and post audio soon!

Found some turkeys, may have been roaming pets near a country house, nevertheless the turkeys were not impressed with the turkey call.

Très simple d’utilisation et émet un son très naturel. J’aime beaucoup le mien. Fait de plastique dur, il est très résistant aux aléas de la chasse

I had my doubts about this product because of the low price. But the first time I gave it a “hoot” I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not hard to do it right. I find it sounds best when covering all but the top hole. I had immediate responses from at least 3 different owls during my first outdoor use. I live in a heavily wooded area of NC so others may not experience the same response that I did. However, if there are any owls in your area at all I feel confident you will be hearing back from them shortly after using this product. You might even make a friend.

Super call, très facile à utiliser et produit plusieurs notes. Le son est très réaliste. Très efficace pour localiser le dindon sauvage.

This works great when you get it down. Great horned owls have a distinct sound but they are not all the same. The directions on how to use the call are not complete. The directions say to use the call by using a "Who-who! Who-do-you-choose" when blowing into the call. This only works sometimes. Your best bet is to go to YouTube and learn from there. One call I found that works is a "Who! Whooo!" sound. Again, this is just occasionally. There is also a "Waaahhh!" call. It all depends on the time of year, with Great Horned owls mating from around late February through early to mid April. Don't merely go by the package instructions. Get into the woods and listen to them. The best time is early morning as it just starts to get light and again at sunset through early dark. I like this call because I can make the call do what I want. It may be covering one hole, both holes or even none at all. With a little practice and hearing the return call from owls, you'll have them coming close to your home in no time. I cannot say how it works for turkey hunting because I am not an avid turnkey hunter. I can say that this is fun and will let you see the beautiful owls in no time. Next up is building an owl house and putting it up. They are great to keep away rodents and snakes.

Super flûte d'appel à la chouette facile d'utilisation et très abordable. Avec Amazon de prime elle m'est revenue moins cher que n'importe quel boutique à Québec

This is my first owl caller so I have nothing to compare it to. I do however have audio recordings of Great Horned Owls and Barred Owls. When comparing them to the sounds of the Primos Hoot Flute Call you quickly realize the flute isn't super realistic. Don't get me wrong, it sounds authentic enough to fool the owls but it sounds a bit plastic and hollow. Actually, it has a bit of a "flute" sound. For the Great Horned Owl you want a deeper sound so by positioning my lips differently I was able to damper the sound a bit so it doesn't sound like a musical instrument and more like a real owl. With a little practicing you'll be able to make decent owl calls.Hey for under $10 (including shipping) it does a pretty good job. It's certainly worth the money.
