The original always had a sticky flapper-dapper and one day it was still open when it encountered the door frame and latch. This replacement was easy to install and the flapper dapper does not stick open.

I like this, but had to return it, at my expense. The locking catch on this did not reach out far enough to latch onto the jamb. The tang was as long as it needed to be in normal conditions, but I discovered my pocket door was not closing in alignment, the upper most part of the door was touching the jamb first leaving a gap too wide where the lock had to latch. Amazon sells tools to adjust the pocket door so it closes on the square/plumb but unless you have temporary shims that's a two person job, and the adjustment to make the door plumb is not an easy reach or any easy fix which is why the custom tools Amazon sells are needed for the adjusting, but even with those know how experience is best. If this is your problem find a handyman that does it, because even if you have the tools, if you've never done this you are better off having someone familiar with how the pocket doors hang, and adjusting without taking off the wooden door trim to see what you are doing with the sliding track is also a part of the job. If you have painted the door trim, then you know removal of that trim leaves you are paint touch up in the aftermath.Bottom line, if the maker of this lock made a version of it with a tang that had "more reach" that would lock the door even if the door hangs a little skewed.

This is perfect for our pantry. We have a cat that can open our pocket doors and kept getting into our Pantry. He would get into so many foods and be a nuisance. The locking mechanism keeps him out and our foods safe from his disaster.

I like this product because it can expand to fit a larger pocket door and looks great! I had to replace the original brass/rusted hardware on 2 pocket doors and they look like modern doors!

This looks good and I do recommend it.However, the knob for the lock is too sloppy. The plate that the lock catches had screw heads that were not flush. Also the indent for your fingers to pull is too flat to pull. I replaced an almost identical piece but had to drill/chisel out space for the internal lock mechanism. Overall it was easy to install.

I bought this because my current pocket door is being used to lock one of my cats in the back area of the house due to being bullied. My cats on the other side know how to stick their paws in between the pocket door and open it if it's not locked. Since this lock only has the turning knob on one side (the other side is like a screw that you have to take a flat object to lock it), I decided to just buy another lock and take off the side with the turning knob and put it on the other side of my current lock. Works perfectly.I was unable to find a lock like this that had the turning knobs on both sides. The color matches perfectly with what I have and I'm just quite happy now that I don't have to take a screwdriver to lock it when I'm on the other side of the door.

Better than the one I replaced, which was brass colored. The satin finish is not that deep and in some light, looks a bit bronze. The lock knob has some play and feels like it could break off. I'm not saying it will but it's not firm and tight. Luckily, we just pull the door closed and do not lock the door. If you plan on locking the door, I would suggest getting a more heavy duty unit. Decent for the price and a reasonable upgrade if you are switching because of colors.
