So far, works great. No problems. Husband installed it easily as a perfect replacement for our storm door handle that broke. It functions smoothly, exactly designed as needed and seems built for durability as it is lightweight metal. Looks exactly like the one it replaced.

So, maybe the rest of the part is just great, I'm not sure. My screen door was too thin for this particular product to work. That might have been my fault for ordering the wrong one perhaps. But I could have made it work by shortening the pin attached to the thumb latch (picture attached). It would have been REAL EASY to shorten that pin, considering it is made of extremely CHEAP and THIN PLASTIC! Why, why WHY!? Inexcusable design choice. This thing will sit in the hot HOT Southwest sem-tropical Sun all summer. Not exactly a buy-it-for-life design. The rest is metal. Why not the one piece that you press and will receive forces every single time you open the door from the outside? I ended up using the inside portion only and reused the existing outside door handles I already had installed (all metal). So I only needed the inside latch portion, perhaps I could have bought only that instead. If I couldn't have reused the outside handle I would have returned the unit. Do NOT buy this one, look for one that doesn't contain cheap plastic. Heck, some kind of "quality" plastic would be an upgrade over this gumball machine toy type plastic they are peddling.

The new handle works in place of a damaged one, but I had to cut the plastic plunger to make it fit. Would have been nice to have had that in the instructions or better yet a video. I see from previous comments that the cheap plastic thumb plunger will ultimately fail, so we shall see. Hope I don't regret this purchase.

I really love the spring loaded catch . It allows the door to close securely and make a good seal. Great value for the price

Terrible product. Prime Line USED to have decent products, which is too bad.The door thickness is within the products ratings, but the first problem with the plastic button is the plunger rod was incorrect length, and the button was for a different sized casting. Using these parts, the button managed to launch out of the casting while I was holding the casting to the door to install the first screw THE FIRST TIME! The spring is lost somewhere out in the snow. This after trimming some of the plastic plunger down because it was a bit too long (with no reference in the instructions (and it was STILL too long)! So I tried with the old handle casting which was a Prime Line as well and same original part number to boot. The second time, the button could only escape/get halfway out of the old casting and was noticed to be halfway out AFTER I closed the door to test to see if it would latch. Two of the 4 "ears" that keep the button inside the casting were outside of the casting, and there was enough of a lip under the ears to keep the button from being slid up. The cheap plastic button does not hold up well at 15 degrees (F) as you can see, this was just the result of me hitting the handle of the screwdriver with just the weight of my hand.So until my Wright appears, the inside catch will be used as a simple rotation catch. If you managed to get one of these Prime Line latch assemblies with all the correct matching parts, you will need to glue the "night Lock" into the "OPEN" position, (Otherwise it will of it's own accord- lock you out.), which a product like "Plumbers Goop" will secure it quite well, and is something I should have done when I installed the old latch that this new one was "supposed" to replace. (which is why I accidently ordered this nightmare- the night latch dropped into the "lock" position on it's own, and the inside catch just shattered when I gave the door a decent tug to get it open (from outside)- OOOOPS Prime Line, you have a few defective products as the "old latch" was not even a year old! (From pieces that do not go together, and cheap flimy castings that shatter). So for now,the inner latch will be relegated to only be used as twist latch until that time the replacement WRIGHT shows up. I hate to be so negative as they have had good products in the past- BUT that was in the past, and this was such an egregious lack of Quality Control in the present.

My partner who is a tradesperson installed this and yet it is still not easy to align. While it opens smoothing from the outside, the inside has to be pulled forward before it "unlatches" for us to open. My daughter has a hard time opening it. It will get us through until we find a better solution.

The push rod is plastic, and seems fragile. Also had to cut some of it off to install on a thinner door, this was not noted in the instructions that I recall. the outside handle was also shorter by about a half inch than the original it replaced.
