It has a 9 inch steel arm with a round disc on the tip (some older styles had a small wheel instead of a disc). The disc slides in the Prime-Line part H 3529 casement track located on the bottom of the casement window. It is worm gear driven by a 3/8 inch crank spindle. The matching crank handle that fits onto the crank spindle and installation screws are included. Mounting holes available are 3-7/8 and 4-3/4 inch on center.

Aluminum windows on our farm house with worn or broken hand cranks were $60 plus dollars for vintage style crank. These were a fraction of the price, bolted right in and work great. Be careful to measure for correct fitment. Good product great price.

It's what I needed, and the price was right, but, the gear machining could have been better. Hopefully it improves with use. I did check the window track first, making sure it was clear, and smooth. So, it's the worm gear mesh with the sprocket that snags about half way through swing. I'd likely buy again, just because it's a good price, compared to others.

This is a replacement order for the same part. The gear wears out over time. My house is old and these windows are old. I don't see many other options to buy for these handles to open them so it is what it is.

Our late '50s home has casement-style windows, which use these crank-operators. Despite being made of metal (these and all of the others we've used over the years) they do wear out. I recently bought 3 of these operators made by Prime-Line. Their quality is the equal of the others we've purchased and used, and I expect to get a number of years-use out of them. These are one of the few things that seem to have not been cheapened over time, which is kind of refreshing considering how most manufacturers do business. Simple to install and maintain (apply fresh grease to the tooth splines on the crank's arm every couple of years), and still relatively affordable. An important necessity if your home has casement windows. These are a good buy.

As I attempted the install, I realized the screws in the package were severely undersized. Too narrow and short. Tried the old screws and realized the hole was undersized and that the sides were thicker. No problem - drill the hole to 1/4” and get longer screws. Once installed, the crank would not turn the lever. Other cranks did not work either. Such a simple mechanism was poorly manufactured and not tested. Re-installed the old one and it worked just fine after cleaning. Another reason why we should not import cheap crap from China.

This is great. I have a bunch of older windows that had barely functioning operators. This operator saved the day. Replacement was a cinch and now the windows open and close like new!
