Product Description

Do you have aluminum framed, vertical or horizontal sliding windows with loose-fitting, worn or missing locks? Besides adding a “new look” to your windows with a fresh set of locking hardware, these sash locks can help add peace of mind by restoring the security features on your sliding windows. These locks feature a design that allows them to lock aluminum-framed single-hungs, double-hungs and horizontal sliding windows without the need of a keeper. Each lock features a cam-type locking mechanism that mounts on the checkrail of the innermost sash and engages into the checkrail of the outermost sash. The upper, outermost sash on vertical sliding windows determines if it is a “single hung” or “double hung.” If the upper, outermost sash is non-movable, then it is a single hung window. A “double hung” window refers to both sash having the ability to slide up and down for ventilation purposes, and these sash locks can fit on both model types, in addition to some left/right horizontal sliding windows. The locks are constructed of diecast zinc and come in a corrosion-resistant, industry standard, white-painted finish to match other existing hardware that may already be in the home or office. Depending on the size of the sash, these locks can be used as singles or in pairs. Each set includes one lock, installation fasteners and simple instructions. Installation of these locks is quick and easy and can be done with a simple handheld Phillips head screwdriver. Other design features include a 3/8 inch latch projection, cam-action fastening, and 2-1/4 inch mounting hole centers. Compare the style and dimensions of this lock to those required on your sliding windows and order yours today.

From the Manufacturer

This sash lock is constructed from die cast and comes finished in white. This lock does not use a separate keeper; instead the latch engages your fixed rail to lock the window. Used on vertical and horizontal sliding windows.

1959 Original latches were aluminum.Disappeared/broke (?) before I bought the place 25 years ago. Wood shims kept the window from opening.Fit perfectly and the window can be lowered!

We had a window that had broken latches. I came onto the Zon and quickly found these replacement latches, made sure measurements matched. Which is a great listing image, to ensure they fit properly. Took 2 minutes to replace, and they latch perfectly. Great product and quick delivery.

I was super scared that I had to replace the windows that I started looking on YouTube for help. The link to these locks were provided. I received both pieces in the mail, and it was super easy to install. Both windows lock and saved me money!

Fit perfect except screws are too long. Just touched edge of glass which isn’t good. Reused existing screws. Verify length before screwing in.

It fits my window. Easy to install and good quality. Make sure you measure your old lock before you buy it.

The dimensions listed are accurate, however I found that the shape of the latch is too angular to rotate into the groove properly and it ends up binding before its fully seated. To fix this, I had to grind some metal away to shape a more defined curve. The red line in my picture shows the curve where I removed metal. After this minor modification the latch works perfectly. It's equal quality to the original.

A direct-fit replacement for SUNAIR Aluminum Products latches. TIP: clean your tracks and shut your windows firmly before locking and you'll have less problems with broken latches. Note: there is no "right and left" latch for these windows; simply invert the latch as needed. Our home came with SUNAIR latches - all opened left except one - when I removed the broken original latches the sole window which slid to the right had the same latch as all our left-sliding windows. All the SUNAIR latches in our new home broke within the first 6 months - the building stores were still stocking SUNAIR, but why would I buy them again? So we limped along with 1/2" PVC pipe wedged into the tracks (bottom AND top) for the last 20 years. These latches are marginally stronger than the originals, but the flaw is not with the latches, rather it's the way the latches interact with the window frames. I gave these 5 stars because they fill my need and were inexpensive - they were exactly what I expected when I purchased them. The only way to get a better latch on windows originally equipped with this style latch would be to completely re-engineer your windows with 2-piece latches and hope your refitted latches covered the original holes in the frames. Go with these for economy and function. Don't force them - slam the window and they'll latch easier without breaking off in your hands.
