These knobs are not the best as they stick at times and can’t get out the room unless a screw driver is handy nearby. Knovs either come loose or get to right. Would not recommend for the price you pay .

Looks good but I didn't realize it couldn't be flipped so it didn't work in the door I needed it on. Quality seems good

My house 100+ years old and all the door handles are falling apart and of course have no keys. I purchased 3 sets of these to try out and I'm extremely pleased. They are amazingly simple to install. The latch was reversed to I had to disassemble and reverse the door latch which was very easy. They look and work great and even come with keys. I'll be buying more to finished the rest of the doors in my house.

My home was built in 1952 and we have interior doors with this type of knob locks with skeleton Key. due to age the original ones are beginning to fail. I purchased these new assemblies with the anticipation of having to modify my doors. To my pleasant surprise, the only modification needed was the striker position on the door jam. The new mechanism slid right in with very little tapping with a hammer. This product is well worth the money. It also included 2 keys with I didn't notice in the product description. I will purchase more as the other original one in the house fail.

I purchase a house built in 1950. Oddly enough all the doors are smaller than what we modern people have, and most of the interior doors in my house had broken Lock Sets. I purchased the lock set and a door-knob set from amazon and they worked fantastically perfect. Yes, after using a paper shim to hold the door closed (bedroom & bathroom), I am patting my self on the back! I searched for parts and inexpensive sets and found out that I couldn't just buy parts (I am still looking for springs that fit). Amazon had the better selection for a reasonable price on the whole lock sets. Also, going thru and looking at the range of what Amazon does have, gave me more ideas of what I can or can't do.

I have lots of old doors. And one of the doors, the spring broke. and is gummy. the new springs, do not fit perfect, and put a bit too much tension, and the internals are gummy (it's 120 years old), but was not a name brand. So, old, but cheap the day it was bought. Oh, the irony, it's 120 years old now (so, clearly it is better then most things made today). But, it needs work (break cleaner, and a little filing off of a cast defect), and I dont have the time or desire to spend 2 hours fixing it. this worked great, and was a near perfect fit, only took a chisel to nip out a 1/16 to fit perfect. Looks great. the doorknobs work great, with the spindle, I've actually never seen one that spins on, all of mine are unthreaded.

I ordered 18 of these in Oct 2016 for a renovation on our 1912 Craftsman, satin-nickel finish with locks. After reading some of the other reviews and being a bit concerned, we purchased one of these and showed it to a locksmith who does a lot of work in our old neighborhood before deciding to order the rest and do it ourselves, and he said they looked like a duplicate of an old Corbin mortise lock design. His bottom price for the lock alone was at least twice what these cost, and labor on top of that, so we decided to give these a shot.Quality -- The door plates ARE thinner than an original lock from the period. However they're not tin foil and once they were mounted on the door they were solid and I really could not tell they were any thinner than the originals. Just waaayyy shinier, of course!- Since other reviews mentioned issues with the lock mechanism getting stuck, I exercised the lock about 20 times and opened up each one to inspect before setting them in the door. I found 1 that would not work and discovered the lock sliding mechanism was not sitting correctly in the internal track. After setting it in the right position, I haven't had any issues since. The internals are pretty simple so it's not too intimidating to open up the lock.Installation - it's a mortise lock so yes it's way harder than a modern style to carve out the pocket for the lock. But if you've got a house this old then that's the correct style, and if you've got a lot to install there are mortise jigs you can buy to make life easier. We were also able to obtain a number of original doors from the period, and these locks were a direct fit for those that already had the mortise for the lock mechanism, which made installing a lot of them fairly easy.Other issues - I've had the set screw for the door handles loosen up a couple of times and need to be retightened. The bar the handle connects to is threaded so the handle loosened up but stayed on the bar just fine until I retightened the set screw. I also put a little Loctite on the set screw and no more problems after that.Overall I'm happy with these locks. Best part is the solid clunk sound the internal spring makes with the old solid core doors when you close them, you just don't get that with newer lock designs!Update Nov 3, 2022 - I have to lower my rating on these locks. About a year ago, one of these broke such that the latch would not retract. My kids had been fighting over the door so I figured maybe it was a fluke. But then a couple days ago the same thing happened randomly to another door. In both cases one of my kids was trapped in the room until I could get inside the room via a window and take the door off the hinges. The lock broke in the same place both times - see the circled tab in the picture. It is a tiny tab of metal that links the door knob to the door latch. But in both cases that tab fatigued and straightened out. This is a serious safety issue with the design causing someone to be trapped in the room. I believe it's just a matter of time that more of these will fatigue so I am now in the process of searching for a more reliable replacement design. PLEASE BEWARE!
