So this charcoal burns for a really long time and hardly smokes at all just provides a steady heat source. It also seems to be on the slightly cooler side as it seemed to not be the fastest way to cook. As far as charcoal goes it's good stuff but sooted for certain things. It's mostly small pieces with a couple larger chunks all very solid but I can help but feel it's a lot of money for a small box of burnt sticks

Burns like a dream! I've been using it both in the KBBQ grill we have at home, but also - just been using it as "everyday" charcoal in my webber. Smokeless is a bit over the top I think - there IS smoke.... but it's not acrid or thick like you would associate with normal run of the mill Charcoal. All in all - it's great - burns hot - and has an even burn rate. Love it!

This wood fuel is very good to use in my outdoor wood burning pizza oven and outdoor smoker. It's perfect for my outdoor meat and fish smoker because it uses coal and you need fuel that can last long for the smoking process.

I really love these charcoal sticks. They are packaged well with no visible damage. The quality grade looks great, and the sticks are clean burning and lasted longer than regular charcoal with what seems like everlasting retaining heat. It comes with quite a bit of charcoal mini logs and a small amount goes a long way. I used a fire chimney to get them going and once started, these mini logs were pleasingly hot and maintained heat the entire cooking time. When trying these I felt like I was stationed back in Korea cooking over the charcoals at the BBQ restaurants.

I’ve cooked with similar charcoal hundreds of times, but for some reason, I just couldn't get these to ignite and stay lit. I followed the directions and tried everything, from using charcoal briquettes underneath to blasting them with a propane torch, but the second I removed an active flame, they went from red-hot to dead. They are extremely dense, like a rock, and I have no idea what’s wrong with them. If you can get them going, they might be great, but for me, they were just frustrating to use.

My husband is on an Asian cuisine deep dive, and with a new grill waiting for spring, these Binchotan All-Natural Hardwood Charcoals are going to be a great addition to his grilling repertoire. These aren’t pre-formed briquettes but large chunks of actual charcoal, so you’ll need a smoker to get them started. Once they’re going, they burn incredibly hot and last much longer than typical briquettes. You can even reuse the pieces to get maximum cook time. They’re a bit pricey for charcoal, but I’m confident my husband is going to enjoy experimenting with new grilling techniques.

This binchotan style charcoal works fabulous! We make Yakitori very often here at home and are always grilling meats outdoors. So we go through plenty of charcoal. This charcoal burns very hot and lasts for an incredibly long time. I find the typical runtime to be about 40-45 minutes. Standard charcoal typically lasts around 20-25 minutes. The best thing about this binchotan charcoal is the reusability factor. If you just need to grill something quickly and find that you still have plenty of coal left, you can just put it out with water, let them dry and reuse as normal next time. It doesn't just crumble up like your standard charcoal.A quick tip to getting these charcoals going is to use a chimney starter. I have a propane burner that I use in conjunction with the chimney starter and I am able to get these coals hot and ready within minutes.
