Couldn't be happier - great quality cordage, chain, and pulls. Amazingly tough bag.

Did the job well. Hardest part wasn't inability to throw the pouch far enough to get over limb. Once over limb it cut cleanly trough. I've done two fairly large branches. Just remember you are the horse power and pay attention to your angle of cut, so you don't get it bound up by the weight of the limb. Definitely worth the price.

Great tool. I cut a lot of limbs that are 8 inches in diameter with this saw. I was skeptical at first but once i got the saw over the limb and started cutting i was shocked how well it performed. Then i thought it would not last past one or two limbs. But now looking at a 20+ year old oak tree almost all cut down and the rope saw is still in perfect conditions and ready to keep going i am amazed at the durability and performance of it. Highly recommend it.

The saw chain is very sharp and cut through a large oak branch very easily. The bag must be weighted with rocks and then the top folded over, which makes it unwieldy and difficult to throw with any accuracy. My big complaint is the rope. This is a tree limb saw, so there will be bark. This rope has a woven exterior (cotton?) that acts like velcro against the bark, so once the bag is thrown over the branch it just stops. I have used other rope saws and usually a lite whipping action will make the weight drop down fairly quickly. This rope saw takes a lot of violent whipping up and down to get the bag to move. And forget repositioning the rope on the limb; the rope will not move sideways at all. Unfortunately, as the rope ages the exterior will fray and develop snags which will only make the problem worse. Plan on replacing the rope if you purchase this saw.

This arrived promptly. Upon initial review, the items looked cheap and I had my doubts that this would work. A friend and I had several very large limbs on an oak tree that had died due to the drought that needed to come down as they threatened my bee hives. After a few missed throws and some laughter, we got the hang of how to toss the rope effectively. We were able to safely bring down several 10 to 12 inch thick branches that were 20 to 30 feet off of the ground. I won't lie, it was hard work and we were sweating but the job got done. Almost everything in the kit was of acceptable quality to complete the intended tasks. The only exception was the included gloves. They were laughable and so lightweight that they would not have held up in use. Also they were too small for an adult. But I didn't buy this kit for gloves, I have plenty of those.

My first gripe with this product is the misleading headline that says "...with 23 FT Ropes" (plural, implying there are two 23 foot ropes in addition to the chain). I was looking for something to prune high branches and I thought 23 foot ropes would be more than enough. Much to my dismay, the TOTAL length of both ropes is 23 feet, giving you a little over 12 feet of height to work with depending how tall you are. Had I known this, I wouldn't have bought it. I have an electric pole saw that extends to 15 feet that reaches higher than this setup. Elsewhere in the product description it does give the actual length of the ropes and I should have read the entire thing, but that headline needs to be changed. I ran out to Lowes and purchased a more suitable length rope and used that instead.Next, while sawing my third branch one of the fasteners that attaches the chain to the rope bent and fell apart. The branch was no more than 3 inches in diameter and no, I wasn't hanging on the rope or putting undue stress on it. Back to Lowes to purchase replacement fasteners. While setting up to cut my 4th branch one of the grommets on the weighted bag fell off. Again, there was nothing odd going on or any undue stress being placed upon it.Bottom line: this product is probably OK to use for light action while camping or hiking, or even some small branches around the house, but if you're looking to take down some bigger branches (3 inches or greater in diameter) I wouldn't recommend it.

I used this saw to cut down a few high branches in my maple. Ultimately it worked on a few branches but got stuck on the last. This saw is very sharp and cuts quickly but the struggle is getting it into the tree and sawing it correctly. If you have the chain anywhere under the branch, it will pinch the saw and it will be stuck. Therefore, I needed another person, we stood on either side of the branch and sawed. Each person needs to be directly across from the other or the chain will bend and get stuck which is what happened to me. Overall, if you want to save a few hundred on cutting down a high branch safely, this can work for you but just use two people and plan carefully. This rope saw cams in a box. No directions, just parts in a box. My branches were 30-40 feet up so I used some parachute cord. What I found worked best was a separate rope for the throwing bag and two others for the saw. The yellow ropes that come with this do not smoothly go over branches which made throwing a line with them difficult. In the throwing bag I placed a half pound or so rock which worked well. I used square knots for my connections.Once I got a line over and hauled the saw up, cutting was generally easy, just short strokes and branches came down quick. The branches I cut were small and did not come down cleanly, I had no smooth straight cuts because of the weight of the branch pulling itself down before the cut was complete. That led to some complications with getting the rope down. I had to remove all knots before pulling the rope back down, otherwise it got stuck in the cut.Quality of the metal clips was okay but with a lot of force, they will come lose. Quality could’ve been better. The chain was very sharp and needs to be.I have some photos of the saw but can’t upload them for some reason.
