Updated review: Would not buy again! When the unit work properly, it's a great unit. However, there are two major issues. The first is the charging algorithm. One of the charging modes is boost charge. Every time the unit goes into boost charge, it just stops charging. no fault codes are shown. 0 watts until you kill the power completely to the unit, then it works again. The second is product support. I tried to reach out the company, but the steps required are ridiculous. You have to show a screen capture proof of purchase, provide vendor info, video of the problem in action, and a photo of the unit label, just to ask a question. In my opinion, that is not how you help customers, but how to keep them from bugging you.Original review:Been using this charge controller for about month. Does a great job, The menu is a bit confusing, which is why I left 4 stars instead of five. Only other complaint is the auto-dimming screen. I check the controller several times a day, so I can monitor the in/output of the battery and panels. It is a little annoying to have to keep hitting a button to have the screen come back on. I can see why a dim screen can be beneficial; I just wish it was an optional feature. The auto safety features are nice. I unfortunately learned about them the other day when I did something stupid while not paying attention, but they did their job perfectly and protected the equipment. I would buy one again.

I bought two of them. Installed both of them and one did not act right.....Shipped it back the next morning and got a easy fast refund the same day I shipped it back Fantastic . ...Easy purchase. It's been two months now and the other one is doing okay The set points I program in seem to change but end result it maintains the batteries 48 volt system well using 12 - 100 watt panels on this system.

I am using with four Mission Solar PERC-60 MPPT 320 Watt Solar Cells, their Vmppt is 34.2 Volts, and four 100 AH 12 volt Lithium Iron batteries wired in parallel. The unit I purchased arrived in working order. It comes with a battery temperature probe. It displays the temperature read by the probe on the unit display. The solar panel output voltage shown on the display of this unit does not follow Vmppt of 34.2 volts consistently. At times it seems to track to a sub-optimal Vmppt of less than 34.2 volts.I'm not sure yet if it is actually delivering the maximum power with these 60 cell solar panels yet because of the variability of the MPPT tracking function. I will update the review after further use and monitoring. I have not yet had the panels in full sun perpendicular to the panels to see how close to the 1280 watt maximum output of the solar array I can get with this controller. The unit auto determines battery voltage of my 12 volt battery bank as stated, in my case I am using 400 AH of 12 Volt Lithium Iron. The only battery setting is the charge current cutoff voltage. It does not have a battery type setting like all other Solar Charge Controllers I have worked with before this. All I can state is that by setting the charge current cutoff voltage to 14.4 or 14.5 (to compensate for wiring voltage drop if needed) it works fine with 12 Volt Lithium Iron Batteries.

Easy simple installation, working great so far. Excellent features to see what voltage amps and watts are being delivered to your battery bank. A great improvement over the previous charge controllers I was using.

Controller seems to work, but the display goes off intermittently. The fan turns on/off irratically until the temperature goes high enough to stay on, or off. Hard to set for my lithium batteries ... poor instructions. I can't be sure of my settings because of the display and poor instructions. This unit might be great with some upgrading ... as it does seem to do it's job according to my power monitor. If it was upgraded, I would have recommended it. I have decided to return it.
