My husband bangs his shins up constantly when working at the blue home improvement store. Mostly from those low dolly carts ramming into him at the front. As you can see in the last picture, he has lots of marks from this.I bought these hoping to keep him from getting injured and after a month of use has kept his shins damage-free. He says that they are comfortable enough to wear for a 6 hour shift and they stay put -- the velcro straps are incredibly strong. The guards themselves have been sturdy enough to prevent him from further injury from large heavy objects hitting him in the shins, so they work as we had hoped.

I had one pair from a major name, but lost one side. Hated to buy another set, but this one is so much better. Old one only had two straps on the shins. The knee kind of floated around above the knee. It stuck out more, with a lot of space between the knee (especially in the bent position), and felt clumsy. And i never felt comfortable that it would work very well in a fall because the knee was so unsecured, it was always sliding off to the side, even when you were not doing anything. This one fits incomparably better. Feels more like part of your leg, the knee is secure and snug - it just feels good. The old one would wear out the velcro because you use the velcro every time you put it on and off. This one, you only use the velcro one time only. The rest of the time you put it on and off with a large snap at the other end of the strap. A lot smarter design. I don't see anything to be gained by spending more than this. It even looks nice. I'm 5'4", so it's fine for short riders.

Considering the price I'm happy with them so far. I was afraid they wouldn't fit with my MX boots, but no problem. Comfortable. Haven't fallen yet, so don't know how well they'll protect or how long they'll last, but so far so good.

These are not adult pads, they're sized for children. I'm only 5' 7" tall and they're way too short even for me. I'll be returning them and looking for something better.
