During the winter and spring I have the batteries I need for my radio, to be prepared fortornados. When we had a tornado a few weeks ago I didn't have the right batteries. This little radio solves that problem! I've set a reminder to charge it twice a month.I have better reception on this radio than any other I have! The light was perfect when we didn't have power for 8 hours. The sound is really loud! The fact that you can use it to charge your phone and tablet makes this an amazing little radio!I haven't tried to use the sun to charge it yet.I only have one negative thing to say about the radio. It would have been nice to be able to use rechargeable batteries. That way I could have a few charged batteries incase we loose the power for a longer time.

Even better is the one has two power sources with two charging methods. The radio runs on a rechargable Ion Lithium Battery but also has a solar panel built into it. It also comes with a small Micro USB cable for USB Charging but if you're using the radio outside, the solar panel will charge the battery while you're using it.We may be in the era of streaming services but don't let populism fool you: Radio's not dead. In fact, I'd say it's far more important as a medium now more than ever. Even if you don't have internet access or a TV, these will still pull through. This radio offers AM, FM and Shortwave (SW) though you can also use it as a Bluetooth speaker by pairing it with a device. You can also insert an SD Memory Card or USB Drive with MP3 files for audio playback. If you plan to keep it in your garage, home office or dorm room the radio also has a built-in backlight. Not bad for backyard hangouts or while camping on that note. If you travel a lot even within the same U.S. state or Canadian territory, keep in mind the available AM/FM radio stations may change depending on the area you're currently in.Contrary to what you may have heard, yes it is legal to broadcast in and listen to in Shortwave (SW) frequency. It's just a rarer frequency in North America is all. You can pick up international SW radio stations so there's that. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) updates can also be picked up via SW so there's that too.The low price and loaded features make this a worthy investment to say the least.Update 3/24/2024:I forgot to say this before but the radio does have Bluetooth connectivity. You can pair a device with it (phone, tablet, computer, etc.) from the other device through the radio. I haven't tested this myself but the radio does support audio play through the USB port and SD Memory Card (NOT Micro SD) slot. That's what the MP3 slide is for. You also use that slide when connecting via Bluetooth. The USB Port can also be used to charge a device on that note.A common concern I have heard is "What if you're indoors in the middle of winter in a room with no windows?" and "What if you only really can use it at night or overnight/early morning?" The radio comes with a cable for fast charging via USB. Alternatively, you can also Solar Charge indoors using a Sun Lamp or just keeping the Solar Panel close to a light source inside. A table lamp is fine for that.Eventually, the Ion Lithium battery will stop holding a long charge in which case you can simply buy a new battery and replace it yourself (screwdriver required). They're actually pretty cheap but the initial battery should last you at least 5 to 6 years, likely more if not used much. If you're using the radio outside, just put up the Solar Panel and it will charge the battery while being used no problem. If you want peace of mind, there are portable radios like this that also have the option of using Alkaline batteries in addition to having an Ion Lithium battery. I have two of those so I'd know.

I needed a compact A.M. capable radio mainly for local sports casting.I prefer manual tuning for A.M. one thing, the A.M. is sensitive to A/C electrical fields so, A.M. use while charging (or near A/C outlets) causes interference, use a separate power bank charger for A.M. operations while charging. Other than that, it's operation as great, the Bluetooth speaker operation is clear and powerful at 5W then there's stuff like an adjustable area reading lamp, built in power bank, solar charging and Short-wave radio to expand your borders and it's a great campers radio.A few cons are there's no headphones jack,no call service, or aux in/out so no private listening. Battery life is fair at modest volume, around 5+ hours probably more with solar charging, the large buttons and simple switch layout are easy to operate in the dark. This has become my overall goto speaker for travel, it travel well.
