My brother-in-law is very techy and was looking for a tool like this to check his charging ports. He tested it out and was happy with it.

These USB-C power meters are essential for troubleshooting charging issues with any/all rechargeable USB-C devices. Being a standalone meter, you can test both the cable and the device. It's ultra portable, well built, and easily understood.

The product is very simple to use. Simply insert it in place of a direct USB-C connection and it will show volts, amps, watts and current direction of flow for that connection. Adapters can be used for regular USB connections. One point is deducted because there is a shoulder around the male plug which hampers the direct connection in some cases.

The perfect little device for the geek inside everyone. It tells the volts, amps, and watts with pretty good accuracy.I especially love how I can flip the display upside down at the push of a button. INCREDIBLY helpful!

The Plugable USB C Power Meter Tester proved to be an invaluable tool when I needed to diagnose and repair a USB C AC adapter for my Lenovo ThinkPad E590. Its straightforward yet ingenious functionality made it an essential part of the troubleshooting process. This power meter accurately measures power flow, voltage, and current direction, providing crucial information to ensure the health of my laptop's power supply. While I would give it a solid 5 stars for its functionality, I deducted one star due to the somewhat flimsy plastic housing. However, a simple fix involves wrapping both ends in electrical tape for added support.Despite the minor issue with the housing, the Plugable USB C Power Meter Tester is somewhat pricey for its quality, but it unquestionably delivers the functionality needed. In the realm of diagnostic tools, simplicity often reigns supreme, and Plugable exemplifies this philosophy. It's a worthwhile investment for anyone dealing with USB C power issues, offering reliable insights into power flow and aiding in effective troubleshooting.

I already have a USB-C power meter, which I like, from another famous brand; however, that brand no longer sells power meters, and USB-C standards keep changing (i.e. higher voltage, more wattage). This Plugable meter is very easy to read, and the button that switches the orientation of the display is a very handy extra feature.I tested this meter against the old one, and they both gave very similar readings, which were plausible, so I assume both are accurate. One feature missing from this new meter is cumulative power transferred. Instead this one provides only instantaneous volts, amps, and watts.Overall this is a very nice meter at a reasonable price.

USB quick charging QC3.0 and Power Delivery-PD / QC4.0 is meaningless without the right cables. Not all cables charge fast or even communicate (charge only) like the magnetic type. And some USB-C adapters limit Power Delivery to be old low current compatible. This meter helps to pick the right cable and adapter combinations for the focus device. That is if concerned about getting the fastest recharge for the power back or the smart phone when needed quickly.Story: just received a new power pack that came with a cable that did not support the fastest charge rate of the battery. Good battery, cheap cable - who is going to know?Story 2: Existing 130 watt laptop charger with USB-C used to charge a power pack with 40 watt fast charge input -makes sense right!? Well the laptop charger does not have a PD profile to match the power bank so it defaulted to 5 watt. It would take forever to recharge the block; the meter pointed that time waster out. What I cannot predict is how many in/out cycles the USB- C connectors on the this meter can take. I mention this because the fit is loose; maybe a good thing for less connector stress possibly resulting in longer connector life???I particularly like the button the change display orientation.

This is an easy to use USB-C power meter that also works with "dumb" USB-A ports if you happen to have a USB-A to C adapter. The display orientation button and a larger screen makes it more convenient than the previous version. The connectors are snappy, and the plug connector can be used with the phone protective cases (it has an additional little ridge around it). Unlike some other (even cheaper) models, it doesn't measure total charge passed through the meter, which would be a nice addition that'd cover 99% of frequent usage scenarios and would better justify the price premium.

It seems to work great. However I wonder if the unit is limiting the current to the computer. I have 2 Dell laptops that 'require' 120W supplies and I've tried this on both. The most this unit shows is ~60W and that is when the battery is charging and computer is running.
