Thrilled with this. Got a "Used but good" which turned out to be *perfect*.At 60% off. Whoo hoo!And fit beautifully into a 36" wide fireplace that's 27" at the back.Really well-built, like something from decades ago.

I was looking for a new grate and came across this one. I purchased in in march of 2017 and started using the following fall. It lasted 7 years. The only reason we are replacing it is the center started to sag form the heat. But WOW. 7 YEARS.

Bought this in November 2022 and am using it for 12 hours/day in Winter months (November to April) and about 2 times/week anytime else. It's now April 2024.We burn Oak, Ash, Elm, and some Maple. This thing gets red hot but has warped very little. The only issue we had with this is the gaps are large enough to drive a truck through so I cut 1/2" re-bar, bent them to the same angle as the grate, and spot welded them on to the frame. Now I can set those wax/sawdust starters in there and away we go!Gave it a 5 star because the gap issue was easy - just needed a good frame.I expect it to last at least 5 years with heavy use.

I bought this same grate a few years ago at a different house. I bought it again assuming it would have reduced in quality but still be good enough. I was wrong. It’s an absolutely fantastic grate, still incredible quality, and won’t burn through for years (or ever). This one grate might be 50% more than others, but it will last so much longer and that it’s cheaper over time.Don’t hesitate, this is one great grate.

This thing is *robust*. It came well packaged in a double-layer corrugated box, and the second I picked it up I wondered if the box had a gold bar in it. It's got a heavy finish on it, and the bars are double the thickness of the grate I'm retiring. It does hold the logs about 1 1/2 inches higher than my old grate - which is probably a good thing for longevity - the old grate quickly became immersed in ash and embers, which likely contributed to its ultimate demise. Having said that, it *did* last through 15 seasons of constant use. This new one might out-live me :-)

It's a really solid stand, I've been impressed with it. It's definitely well built. I will say that it stands taller than I expected, but it wasn't a problem. Just an observation. I'd buy it again, but I think this will last me decades so I won't need to buy another one!

Some reports say this product sags under extreme heat, so I will weld some extra legs to prevent this.Apart from that it is very well made

Excellent heavy 24" fireplace grate. FRONT feet are 24" wide (PROBABLY the reference point between models). Good welds, sits level (well, feet are co-planar -- it looks level and does not rock), sturdy. Double boxed; reinforced cardboard angles in inner box. The grate had poked through a cardboard angle or two, and had slightly bumped out the inner box in one place. But the packing had kept all 8 points from poking through either box - very nice. I (hubby) am making these comments before use (bought in middle of Tennessee summer 2017). Will be used in a residential (smaller) fireplace (see pictures below; one is a top view of the grate; one is the grate in the fireplace). This grate is the 24" model (the only seller measurement), which others reviewers agree tells you exactly squat. So, grab a cup of coffee and a pencil for a little math: Our fireplace is trapezoidal: 19" across at the back; 32" across at the front; 16" front to back. This grate, like our fireplace, is trapezoidal: the front legs are 24" across (outside edge measurement) and stick out further than the support tines. It would seem that the 24" designation refers to the width of the front feet (can we assume that designation across all sizes? Please help, future reviewers). The rear legs are 20.5" across and stick out further than the support tines; the support tines are 13.5" deep (distance between Line1 and Line 2; Line1 being a line passing through each rear tip; Line2 being a line passing through each front tip). Sorry, easier to do Line1/Line2 then edit a pic. NOW, you may be wondering "If your fireplace is 19" across at the back, and the rear legs are 20.5" across, how can this grate possibly fit? This fits in our fireplace because the rear edge of the rear feet start 3.5" forward from Line1 -- that is, 3.5" from the back of the fireplace. At that point, our fireplace is about 22" wide and so fits the 20.5" wide rear feet. The grate sits 3 5/8" high (floor to BOTTOM underside of cross legs), and the TOP side of the support tines begin at 5.5" above the floor in the MIDDLE of the grate (higher in the back and front). Note that while this is 3/4" metal, it is turned on corners, so these measurements are not multiples of 3/4". Nice grate. Recommended. And IMHO if I owned this purveyor of hearth accessories, I would have dimensional notes on each of these grate sizes to encourage purchase. Good product, bad marketing, and some frustrated reviewers.

This grate is almost great. It is very solidly built. It might last until I die. It is poorly designed in that it is TOO HIGH. The logs need to be close to the embers underneath to keep a fire going. This grate holds them too high and the fire was going out. First we tried putting bricks underneath the grate so the embers could lay on the bricks closer to the logs. That was better, but not good enough. So bought a new hacksaw blade and cut about 1.75 inches off of each leg. This is solid steel, so that took a while, but it was worth it. Also, I have a grinding wheel and I was able to level it out so it wouldn't rock. Now it is PERFCT!!!Perhaps amazon could recommend a hacksaw in their upselling suggestions.Dear Manufacture. Save yourself a few bucks on steel and make this shorter. Ideally, the logs should be about 4 to 4.5 inches off of the floor of the hearth. Not 6 or 7.

Bought this to replace a low quality hearth that melted and sagged in the middle. I am attaching a photo. This is the best hearth I have seen and I am happy with the product. I recommend to anyone looking to buy a hearth. No possible way to overheat or melt due to quality of the product. However, the decision process for which size to get is very frustrating. the description and reviews offer no complete size details. Therefore, look at the photo I am posting.the 33" measurement is the length from leg to leg. both the front legs and the rear legs are the same length. They are wider than the tines.the depth of the tines (front to back of the fireplace) is 15". They are mounted offset at a V.the front of the tines are 29" end to end, and the rear tines are 23" end to end.The measurement from the floor to the bottom of the leg bar is 3.5", and the measurement from the floor to the top of a tine is 7.5"
