Great product and made installing the mailbox super easy once you figure out what all the "universal" parts are. Comes with literally no documentation, instructions or information.

I used this mount with my new mailbox on an existing cross-arm post. I really wanted to get a new post but don't want to deal with digging a new hole and filling it with concrete right now, but that's beside the point. This mount worked perfectly. What I did was just barely screw in two of the screws through the mailbox into this mount and then put double-sided tape underneath this mount so when I positioned the mailbox in the proper location on the arm, I could unscrew the two screws and the mount would stay where I needed it to be until I could screw it into the arm. I then unscrewed the mailbox from the mount when it was in the proper location and screwed the mount into the arm of the post with four of the included screws, and then mounted my mailbox tightly onto the mount using four more of the included screws. It was easy and took about 10 minutes to install. The mount, although plastic, should be fine unless the plow hits the mailbox of course. It came with plenty of holes for various popular mount patterns, one of which matched my mailbox's pattern. This bracket was a great deal.

I got this to mount a Gibraltar Tuff Body mailbox on top of a 4x4 post, and it was frighteningly flimsy and very difficult to affix the mailbox to.BE AWARE: The Tuff Body mailbox is VERY heavy; it weighs about 20 pounds. This PLMB0060 mounting plate may not have been engineered to take that much weight and be stable, so it might be suitable to use with a lighter mailbox.Having said that, once I had the installation finished, the box rocked forward and back on the post as though it were mounted on a piece of rubber. I stabilized it by screwing a pair of heavy-duty shelf brackets to the post under it and now it's okay. The mounting plate did not properly fit the box, either. I used the long screws going in from the sides, and I needed one set of the spacers (two, instead of the four provided). With the spacers in their little slots, the plate was a tiny bit too wide to fit under the box and I had to do a LOT of prying to get everything together. Also, using half of the spacers puts the box slightly off-center on the post, but that doesn't bother me; just be aware. Finally, the machine screws used for side mounting are too long to use without the spacers; they get jammed in sideways when tightened, so I had to substitute shorter ones.I could have put screws through the floor of the box into the plate instead of using the side-mounting method, but I doubt the stability would be any different. Also, I don't want screw-heads in the floor of my mailbox.I bought this plate because it says, "Universal," and I expected THEIR plate to fit THEIR box, AND to hold it solidly, but if I have to do this again I'll get something else.

The label on this mounting board shows an image of it being placed side by side with another mount on a wooden post that goes perpendicular to them (the top most illustration). That's the kind of post we have, so I thought this board would be good. But looking at it in person, I'm pretty sure it's only designed to fit onto a post that sticks up vertically or that runs the length of the mounting board, and so we'd probably have had an easier time with a cutout of plywood. This is clearly not actually designed for our kind of post. The holes in the middle of the board, which the instruction booklet said to use for such a post, are located at the top face of the mounting board, not at the bottom, leaving a 3/4" gap between the hole for the screw and the wooden post. Which wouldn't be too bad except that the screws provided are only 3/4" long themselves. I had to buy a pack of 1.5" #8 screws just to fix it to the post.Another problem I ran into is that on the bottom around the middle there are two semicircles of plastic that protrude about 1/4" lower than the rest of the board (which wouldn't be too bad for the other types of posts, maybe even help stabilize those kinds). Meaning trying to place it on the post left it rocking front to back. I actually had to dig/drill out the wood on the post where those semicircles would be just to get it to rest flat. After dealing with those problems, I finally got the board mounted onto the post. It's not 100% stable but it seems pretty good. Attaching our standard (small?) mailbox onto the mounting board was fairly easy. After aligning the holes for the screws and screwing the provided 3/4" screws in, I was done. One other downside though: There was pretty much only one set of holes could use to screw the mounting board to the post, and likewise on the side to attach the mailbox. This prevented me from having the flexibility of how far forward or back the mailbox would be relative to the post and left it misaligned compared to the other mailboxes on the post.
