This device can't locate a signal within 4 feet in open air. It is of no actual use to me.

I used the gadget to trace a thirty-meter stretch of PVC pipe, and I must say that I was impressed with the level of accuracy it achieved. Due to the fact that the sensor was able to pinpoint the obstruction within a certain range, I was able to save a significant amount of time and an excessive amount of digging. I got the impression that this technology made a task that would have otherwise been very laborious and time-consuming considerably more bearable. Not only was the gadget sensitive enough to detect even minute alterations, but I also loved the fact that it could be used on plastic pipes, which is something that many detectors have difficulty doing. Not only did I use it to locate the obstruction, but I also used it to trace the whole length of the pipeline, which assisted me in better comprehending the layout for any problems that may arise in the future. The lightweight construction and ergonomic handle made it easy to transport from one location to another inside the yard. The fact that the gadget seemed to be sturdy and well-constructed gave me confidence in its ability to last for a long time. That being said, I did see that the signal may sometimes become weak if the pipe was buried too deeply or in dirt that was strongly compacted. As a result, I needed to make some adjustments to my posture in order to accommodate this phenomenon.

I just used the detector today to trace the sewer line from my house to my septic tank. I had no problems picking up the signal. I did have a problem at one point pushing past some blockage. However after turning on a faucet in my house, whatever the blockage was floated downstream and I was able to push the detector the rest of the way to the tank. So probably just some toilet paper resting in the line.I have no complaints about the detector.

I bored 23 feet under 6” of concrete and had to try and hit a 1’ x 1’ opening in the concrete (very difficult). After boring, I could not find the end of my 3/4” PVC pipe.I was concerned if this tool could penetrate 6” of concrete but it worked great. I pushed the probe to the end of the 3/4” PVC pipe and was able to easily find the end of my pipe under 6” of concrete in less than 20 minutes. Turns out my boring was off more than 3 feet. I am now able to cut out a small amount of concrete and continue routing my PVC line.If not for this tool, I would have had to cut out 10 times more concrete blindly searching for the pipe end.Great tool and well worth the cost for my need!
