Good little box for Bourkes, birds sussessful in hatching 2 clutches. Wood is soft so some birds can chew through it. would not reccomend for parakeets, mine chewed a big hole in it.

This XL nesting box is perfect for my cockatiels. It was nicely built and sturdy. Good size. I bought another one from someone else for cheaper and it was complete crap! Highly recommended this nesting box!

The box itself is nicely made. Except for circular entry disk. However, they didn’t give you LONG enough screws to mount the nest onto the cage. The screws were barely an inch long which is just enough to go through the wood and stick out not quite a quarter of an inch but not enough to go through the cage as well. There was no way a washer and a butterfly nut were going to be attached. I had to go to the hardware store and get bolts to fit. They didn’t have 2 inch bolts which is what was needed. I had to settle for 3 inch bolts. Also there is a short little perch which is supposed to fit into a hole beneath the main entrance hole. The perch is way too big in diameter for the hole. And there was not a dowel the right size to fit at the hardware store. So, I had to use a dowel that was smaller and wrap the end of it with tape till it got thick enough to stay in the hole. The wood is very soft wood. It’s good because it’s light and it doesn’t pull on the cage. HOWEVER, THE BIRDS EAT IT.THE CIRCULAR METAL DISK THAT IS THE ENTRYWAY IS RAZOR SHARP. It juts up above the side and a sharp edge is exposed. The lid fell only gently and pressed my finger into metal rim. It cut me pretty significantly. I had to go to urgent care. This would definitely not pass inspection if it was made in the United States. Good case for a lawsuit. My birds would not go in it. I only waited four days but since they were eating the nest I had to take it out.

I have 2 Green Cheek Conures- they tend to be very curious but hesitant about checking out new things in their cage. They've adjusted quickly to their nesting box! In the past I've just used shoe boxes/empty tissue boxes but my male has been particularly destructive with those since he got a lady friend. I got the XL size and it's perfect for them and in my cage! I need to figure out a way to attach it to the outside (didn't have what I needed initially) but as is- it's great! It's a good size for them (I got the XL) and I think it'll last at least a while longer than the shoe boxes. It's well made and sturdy. Only weird thing is the holes to attach it from the back are on the bottom of the box rather than the top. It came with three screws- I only used 2 since it was plenty sturdy with just the two and I might move it around soon.
