Bought to help remove fleas from my older dog. (They are rampant in Florida during the summer.) With Lab Boxer, the comb worked but several of the tines bent and poked my dog. I only got to use it a few times before I had to throw it away. Good for the price but not for longevity.

Comb works to catch fleas even where you think there are not fleas. Works very well. Couple of the prongs bent and once that happens there no straightening them back. Had remove the prongs in order not to snag my pup.

I can't say anything on how this comb would work on dogs but it works great on cats. It helps to detangle fur and removes old hair like a champ. The handle is very sturdy and the comb is small enough not to scare a cat. Definitely a great buy.

I hate the tiny cheap flea combs you can get just about anywhere. I have pain in my hands, and they are just so uncomfortable, and my cats hate them. So when it turned out my long haired cat just doesn't respond to topical flea poison, and I would need to comb her for fleas regularly, I knew I had to get a nice big comb like I saw used at my vet's office. This is comfortable to hold even if she lets me comb her for an hour, and it's excellent at grabbing the fleas. They get stuck in between the fat metal teeth instead of just being scrapped up and jumping away immediately. And the cats love it too. The teeth are nice and smooth at the ends, and I think it looks and handles more like a regular brush to them with its long grip, so they aren't scared like they were when I was digging into their fur with a plastic rectangle.Definitely worth the price difference from a little plastic comb if you'll be using it regularly. If you work in a vet's office or shelter, you foster, or you just have a cat that's hard to treat, you need this kind of comb.My only complaint is that a few of the teeth on mine weren't super well connected, and they slip out if I pull on them trying to grab a flea. But they go right back in and stay in place as long as they aren't pulled on, so I'm not mad.
