What I like is you don’t have to buy a whole gallon to do a minor project.

brushed it on some very rusty iron. It is thick enough to stick, but thin enough to spray... will use spray when I do the underside of my car. Takes a day or so to dry. The rust turns black and is hard. If you let it get wet, you will get a white powder that is hard to clean off, so let it dry and paint it before it gets wet. I tried full strength and 50% and 25%... seems to work best at a little more than 50% water added.

Item arrived quickly and was well packed. I haven’t tried it yet but am looking forward to making some rust converter with it.

A long overdue review, the package the gallon of acid I ordered was damaged during transit, and the shipping company informed me that they would not deliver it and were going to dispose of the contents. I notified the seller, they replied promptly, and I had a great interaction with a friendly man. They contacted the shipping company, and the nice man then notified me they were sending out a new one the next day, which they did. Nice people at Alliance Chemical. The acid itself is great. For any blueberry growers reading this, I use it to lower the pH of my alkaline well water before watering the bushes. Works great, and it doesn't take much. This gallon of 85% phosphoric acid lasts almost three times as long as a gallon of pH down sold for hydroponic use.

I bought this product to remove rust from steel as a part of a refinishing process. It worked absolutely great! I'm very pleased. Now keep in mind, this is a liquid. It will be most convenient to use on horizontal surfaces. But, it has enough viscosity that you could probably use a cheap paintbrush to brush a thin coat on vertical surfaces too. However you do it, if you keep this material on rust, the rust will disappear.

I bought the acid to remove rust on some shop equipment. I have used the acid before to remove rust on metal to be painted with rust resistant paint and it worked very will. It worked well as used on the shop equipment. Easy to clean up and neutralize.

85% phosphoric acid, dilute for use in rust conversion. Active ingredient in many rust converters, might need surfactant mixed in, haven't researched and figured it out yet. Sturdy package double sealed cap. Delivery person did not pay heed prominent "This end up", but was still ok, did not spill

I purchased this to etch Aluminum custom electronic control panels (aesthetics; nice uniform grey hue that decals stick well to) and as a quick "shot in the arm" to revitalize an old water softener. This worked well for both purposes after diluting with an appropriate amount of water for the metal etching and proper proportioning with the brine water in the water softener. Comes as 4 1-quart bottles and the hazmat shipping charges are a bit steep but with 85% strength this is still a decent deal.
