  • Gives you the peace of mind that your Brake fluid is good and is safely performing its proper function
  • Identifies potential Brake fluid and coolant related problems before they occur -thereby ensuring your safety and fewer breakdowns
  • Simply remove the test strip from the foil wrapper, Dip it into your Brake fluid then coolant/antifreeze, and 60 to 90 seconds later you will know the condition of your fluids. (Scientific proof)
  • May save you from paying for an un-needed Brake fluid or coolant change
  • Test Strip recommended by Tesla for testing Tesla brake fluid every 2 years
  • Be sure to use these to test the coolant (generally diluted 50/50) as it is in the vehicle. DO NOT test coolant in full concentrate without proper dilution.

Most of the time, knowing when to change your brake fluid or coolant is a guessing game. With Brake Strip and Coolant Strip, in as little as sixty seconds you have clear, repeatable and reliable proof of the level of corrosion in your vehicles brake fluid and the acid plus freeze/boil point of your coolant. The test starts with removing your brake master cylinder cap and dipping the Brake Strip end of the test strip into the fluid, next you will remove your radiator cap and dip the coolant end of the test strip into the antifreeze. CAUTION: DO NOT remove the radiator cap when HOT! Once dipped in brake fluid, Brake Strip begins the corrosion measurement reaction - changing color from white to purple in direct proportion to the corrosion level. High levels of corrosion indicate brake fluid that has lost its ability to protect your brake system. Corrosive brake fluid should be changed and a dose of "Brake Shot" should be added to protect against future corrosion Simply search for "Brake Shot" Once dipped in coolant, Coolant Strip begins the pH and glycol measurement reaction. The glycol pad can range from pink to red/blue depending on your glycol percentage. The pH pad can range from orange to yellow/green depending on the acid or alkaline level. Low levels of glycol can quickly lead to a corroded water pump, heater core and radiator. Low glycol can also cause an engine to freeze in cold weather and create a crack through the engine block. pH levels below 7 indicate acidic coolant. Acidic coolant will also quickly corrode a cooling system and lead to premature breakdowns and an unreliable vehicle. Coolant Brake Test Strips give you confidence to know the right time to change your fluids. Don't let a shop pull the wool over your eyes! Find out for yourself if your fluids needs to be changed or not. Be sure to use these to test the coolant (generally diluted 50/50) as it is in the vehicle. DO NOT test coolant in full concentrate without proper dilution.

Tested the rad fluid on both cars, fluid is good for continued use, therefore saving money on rad flushes. I will test fluid again next year.

Although these are not equivalent to a "refraction device" for measuring my vehicle's "antifreeze" strength, they definitely provide me with the opportunity to measure my vehicle's antifreeze "acidity" (should always be about 7) as well as my vehicle's "brake lining's" presence vs absence of "copper" (should never register "copper" in the brake fluid). TY!

This is an awesome way to know for sure if you need to change your coolant or brake fluid. Helped save me money and accurate! Very easy to use. Quality is great given it's packaged individual.

The strips are packaged individually within an outer package so they are dry. Used them to test 4 vehicles all with different types, colors and brands of coolant. These ranged from 1968 Mopar, 2014 Dodge, 2016 Toyota and 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. All tested very good even though 3 were due for a change based on time, not mileage. Therefore, coolant changes are not imminent and saved time and money.

After purchasing several private party cars and motorcycles over the least few years, these strips have proven to be give logical outcomes versus a visual inspection of the fluids. Flogged dark looking brake fluid fails, relatively good looking brake fluid tested mid-life. Green fluids that look older read accordingly. Honda OEM blue coolant showed good glycol, but bad pH so I made the decision to replace. These come in individual foil wrappers so it's easy to trust them for a long shelf life. Instead of shaking off the strips aggressively, I let the fluid bead sit on the test medium. This seems to produce a faster color change, which I interpret as more functional when standing there waiting. When the final color hits, it stays that color, it inspires further confidence in the result. I have no reservations about buying these again. Good tool.

Reliable and Convenient Brake Fluid and Coolant Testing SolutionI recently purchased the Phoenix Systems 8006-B Double-Ended Brake Fluid + Coolant Test Strips, and I am pleased with their performance and effectiveness. Here's my review of this product. The inclusion of 15 individually wrapped test strips in one pack provides excellent value for money. This generous quantity ensures that I have an ample supply for multiple brake fluid and coolant tests, allowing me to monitor the condition of my vehicle's vital fluids over an extended period. The double-ended design of the test strips is a notable feature. With one end specifically designed for testing brake fluid and the other end for testing coolant, it offers convenience and versatility. This eliminates the need for separate testing tools or kits, saving both time and storage space. The testing process itself is straightforward and user-friendly. I found the instructions provided to be clear and easy to follow, even for someone with limited automotive maintenance experience. The test strips produce reliable and accurate results, providing a quick indication of the fluid's condition. The foil wrapping of each test strip ensures their longevity and protects them from environmental contaminants, preserving their accuracy. This packaging design is especially helpful for those who perform occasional tests or store the strips for future use.One small drawback is that the test strips require careful interpretation of the color changes to determine the fluid's condition accurately. While the provided color chart is helpful, it could benefit from being more detailed or accompanied by additional descriptions to further aid interpretation.Overall, the Phoenix Systems 8006-B Double-Ended Brake Fluid + Coolant Test Strips offer a reliable and convenient solution for testing brake fluid and coolant. The quantity of test strips, double-ended design, and foil wrapping make it an excellent choice for regular maintenance checks and keeping an eye on fluid quality.I would recommend these test strips to both DIY car enthusiasts and professional mechanics seeking a cost-effective and reliable method for assessing the condition of brake fluid and coolant in their vehicles..

My 98 Isuzu coolant (green) had not been changed for over 6 or 7 years so I was a bit worried as was rated at only 5 years for life expectancy. The Phoenix test strip showed pH at approximately 7.2 (still good range) - this was estimated by eye using the handy Phoenix score card (see photo). My brake fluid test showed it to be in good condition (10 ppm copper corrosion), which made sense as I changed it perhs 2 years ago. However, some people say there is not much copper in modern braking systems so the brake test is not that meaningful. Not shown is a test strip I used on the brand new pre-mixed Prestone "Asian Vehicle" (10-year life) coolant which showed a pH of 7.5. I think that makes sense from what I read on some automotive sites.I don't know if these test strips works well with more modern organic acid coolant chemistry. I did not research that angle.

These strips confirmed my suspicions. I bought a 3 year old BMW 3 years ago. Now, the check brake fluid service light has been on for 9 months, and last year the car was overheating with the warning light on. Finally I watched a video to get to the brake reservoir and saw it was 100% full and clear. I was suspicious this 6 year old car with 60K miles was still clean and may not be justified for the dealer $255 quote to change the brake fluid. After reviewing the moisture test strips and adding to my cart, this copper test pop-up caught my attention. I read the technical reasoning and it made allot of sense to me as an engineer. While looking for the best price I found these dual purpose strips and was pleased to also verify my coolant condition. Both systems are closed off from external contamination, so I felt if they are not degraded and are nearly like new doing their job, then why spend on putting essentially the same fluid quality back in, and also risk a mistake by an apprentice that causes problems I did not have? Not long ago I got a simple oil change where I always go and upon pickup a bad burning smell came in the cab, and I saw smoke coming from the hood. I went back in and they said oh, sorry guy X spilled some oil on the engine. I looked and saw the new guy- lucky me, my car engine now has new gunk buildup as dirt sticks to the new coating of oil. So I give 5 stars for this product since it gives me confidence my brake fluid and coolant are still in great condition and I need not risk some trainee making a mistake that costs me allot more inn the long run. I bought this BMW at the dealer with 2 more years on the warranty and I got 200 feet down the road and noticed the check engine light was on. I used the car literally 1 minute and had to return it for servicing and come back the next day to get it. Should we really believe there are not morons working on our cars? The car has had a light warning to do the vehicle check service a year ago-so I asked how much and they said $700. I thought no way, I bring the car here every month for something under the warranty and you should have noticed by now. Then when the coolant light was on and AC stopped I found the coolant was unbelievably low--I was so upset after 10 visits to the dealer for this and that, they never once check the coolant and have the courtesy to top it off. They wash your car and give coffee and donuts, but never check for the obvious -- clearly the goal is to have you bring the car back as often as possible.
