Get an Earful of Your Bottom-end Output Phil Jones Bass' Ear Box was designed to cut the complexity of onstage bass monitoring, a feat often plagued by muddy reverberations, acoustic interference, and uneven sound distribution. A cross between a true stage monitor and headphones, the Ear Box was made to rest at ear level, producing nearfield projection to grant bassists an authentic representation of their output without sacrificing the rest of the band's sound. An onboard 5/8-inch adapter easily affixes to your pre-existing microphone stand, and its lightweight build is a cinch to move around once onstage. Plus, its 2.4-pound build makes it easier than ever to transport in your favorite gig bag or roadside backpack. Sweetwater bassists are especially pleased that the Ear Box's high impedance means little to no load on your amplifier, making it a seamless addition to any size rig with zero worry of electrical interference.

As an older lifetime musician I have some hearing loss from years of band volume especially from drummers. Currently playing in several bands where most of the time it’s every man for himself when it comes to volume. I tried in ears and that’s cool if spend $400-500 for some really great headphones. I stumbled upon this product on YouTube. And gave it try. It’s absolutely PERFECT! It gives the articulations of your bass without having to keep turning up your amp to hear over all the competitive volume on stage. Really easy to setup. It has the ability to work with several Ohm’s configuration and does not tax you amp at all. You’ll have to buy a mic stand to put it on. The volume is determined by proximity. No volume knob and it’s not powered.

I was wringing my hands for months over whether or not to purchase the Ear-Box ... boy am I glad I did: I'm an upright bass player and I had a *loud* big band rehearsal the other night and brought this along to use for the first time. PERFECT monitor (connected to an Acoustic Image Clarus-SL2 and Double Shot combo). Helped keep my intonation clean and accurate. Thanks Phil Jones!!!!!

An interesting concept but not practical for me. I tried this at home as soon as it arrived; installed it near my ear on a mic stand as recommended. Even practicing in my home office I could not hear this speaker clearly enough for it to be useful. I had to put it closer than 12" near my ear to hear it - that would look pretty stupid on stage - I might as well use headphones! I was playing through a Quilter Bass Block 800 (800 watt) amp) with a Hartke 210 Transporter cabinet. Based on that i had no hopes it would work better at stage volume (I am in a classic rock trio; we don't use large amps or have many speakers.)
